  1. Evening all, A big batch of pictures uploaded this evening. Highlights include: - Monday morning trip from Killarney to Portlaoise with a 60 minute stop off at Limerick Jct. - Tuesday: The inaugural 1105 Ballina - Waterford Belview Port DFDS liner passing through Athy with the Container Pocket Wagons. The train was running +60 late as the train loco had to go and rescue failed Tamper 744 at Monastervin. http://smu.gs/12s2vPG - Photographic Feature on the North Kerry Railway Line which closed in the mid 1970's. http://smu.gs/12s2Amy Enjoy! The Wanderer.

  3. March has arrived and I start the month off with photos on the Saturday morning from Portlaoise, Limerick Jct. Mourne Abbey, Kilnap Viaduct, Mallow and various places on the Kerry Line. Thanks to Finnyus for the lift (yet again) around Cork. http://smu.gs/Y5p8Rw The Wanderer.
  4. No problem!! I seem to be getting fond of the idea of going from A to B, via C. This morning I needed to be in Dublin and with some time to kill after the early morning duties I decided to get the 0735 Heuston - Galway (22048) to Tullamore and then wait the 17 minutes for the 0730 Galway - Heuston (22034), which had a sizeable amount of custom boarding in Tullamore. http://smu.gs/Z3C1O5 The Wanderer.
  5. No problem Hidden Agenda. Evening folks, It's turning into busy week so far. Today was no different. The Container Pocket Wagons (CPW's) have been receiving maintenance at Limerick Wagon Works in preparation for the DFDS Liner returning to the railway. The train is planned to operate twice a week each way using the CPW's thus taking them over new ground between Cherryville Jct. and Waterford. The service is scheduled to start in the first week of March. In advance of this the wagons were transferred as the 0910 Limerick - Ballina via Portarlington on Wednesday 27th February 2013. 075 provided the traction and the train is pictured passing Geashill, Co. Offally. http://smu.gs/YZZ9gs The Wanderer.
  6. Evening all, A busy evening in Dublin tonight but I still managed to grab two photos at Busaras of 4008 and Heuston of 22005 and 22018. http://smu.gs/YWTVlm Hiddern-Agenda, Please go to the front page of my website and use the search box at the top right corner of that page. Best search terms to use would be: - Liner - Cement - Timber - Tara - Perway If any pictures interest you and you require use of them please get in touch via the email listed on the front page or PM me here. Regards, The Wanderer.
  7. Evening folks, Some pictures taken from Portlaoise this evening featuring Intercity services from Cork and to Limerick, plus the Portlaoise Commuters. The final picture is of the Full Moon rising over Co. Laois tonight. http://smu.gs/YSPh83 The Wanderer.
  8. Evening all, After spending the Friday night in Dublin, I decided to take a rather unusual route back to Laois on Saturday, via Sligo and Mayo! Pictures of the trip may be found at http://smu.gs/YP7AuJ The Wanderer.
  9. I'll see it when I believe it. I don't expect it out for a couple of weeks yet.
  10. At the end of the day some of the coaches in that rake are owned by Iarnrod Eireann, so quite entitled to use such a picture.
  11. and he offers a good taxi service around East Cork as well, despite a hairy moment near Fota
  12. Did you have permission to post it? The cardinal Inchicore rule of photos / videos taken on the premises may not be used for publication / posting on the Internet without prior permission.
  13. 077 was only released from the paint shop today so who ever said they saw it last week is telling porkies. The Austerity livery. Cheap and cheerful to maintain.
  14. 4003 has returned to traffic following overhaul and repainting. It is also the first vehicle to carry the new Iarnrod Eireann Irish Rail logo. I photographed it at Rosskelton earlier today on the 1200 to Cork and later that evening at Heuston prior to departure at 1900 for Cork. The pictures may be viewed at: I also seen pictures of 077 today in its new slate grey livery. Interesting is all I shall say. The Wanderer.

  20. Evening folks, I'm spending the weekend in Wroclaw in Southern Poland. Here are a few snaps of the city which also has an extensive tram network. http://smu.gs/14GB5DY The Wanderer.
  21. Afternoon guys, The latest photos from this week: - Monday 21st January 2013: First weekday of the new timetable and I pop down to Portarlington to view two of the new Portlaoise - Heuston hourly commuter service. - Wednesday 23rd January 2013: Portlaoise and Heuston. - Saturday 26th January 2013: A visit to Monastervin to photograph the hourly Heuston - Portlaoise Commuter service. This station, which reopened in 2000 has really only had a peak hour only service until now. With the Kildare Commuter extened to Portlaoise the station now has hourly trains all day Monday - Saturday to Portlaoise, Portarlington, Kildare, Newbridge, Sallins and all stations to Dublin Heuston. Sadly IE have yet to promote the service in the local media or locally around the town. All photos now online at http://smu.gs/X088gr The Wanderer.
  22. Buses to continue to 1530 Cork - Cobh / 1600 Cobh - Cork (Sat). Midleton services also suspended for a time today due to signal failure at Littleisland.
  23. There is actually three down and four up direct services to/from Limerick. Trivia: Can anybody guess how the unbalanced fourth service is resourced??? The one withdrawn was the 0505 Limerick - Heuston via Nenagh which was the biggest carrier of fresh air until it hit the Commuter belt at Portlaoise.
  24. and a lot of positives in the timetable as well. Far and balanced reporting? - Hourly all stations service to Portlaoise allowing Intercity services to Cork, Galway / Westport and Waterford to operate non-stop to/from the last Commuter Station (Kildare, Portarlington or Portlaoise). - Additional services to/from Galway and Westport routes. - faster journey times on all Intercity routes to and from Heuston averaging 10-15 minutes, but by up to 25 minutes in some cases which is achieved by the express running on the mainline with the Commuter service sweeping the road, 100mph running on certain sections between Portarlington and Athlone / Cherryville Jct to Carlow. Plus more 100mph sections on the Cork route. The Wanderer.
  25. Final post in this triple posting. I have heard the Eddie Stobart rumours but i'm putting it down to driver canteen talk. If it happens....and Stobart run "open access" freight trains...I'll eat my camera!
