  1. Don't temp them! Careless talk costs good models!
  2. If you did choose to go down the NIR route, a class 170 repainted gives an acceptable CAF set.
  3. If only it were true, the rolling stock the guy who wrote it chose would be great!
  4. That kinda suits the concorde! I think if there were to be a train version of the paint scheme, it'd be like the ie orange layout, but with white main bit, green stripe at window level instead of the black, and black lining
  5. I've just had an idea! Maybe someone on here who is good with photoshop could try to mock up a carriage in 'aer lingus' livery? Just for the fun of it
  6. It is very well written, I agree! It must have been someone with an interest in railways, to know so much about the stock and stuff they were banging on about!
  7. The viaduct is really nice! What sort of coach is that with the heating van?
  8. These locos really highlight the fabulous standard of modelling we enjoy these days! Stunning!
  9. great attention to detail with the bits of track being used to lower the locos! I would probably never even think to do that, the poor machines would have been plonked any old shape! top class!
  10. hopefully these images came out okay, i apologise for the poor quality, as i had to use my phone due to the camera playing up. My layout is still very much in progress, and i am hoping to soon add details such as fencing around the houses and along the road. I included photos of some of my locos abd rolling stock so you can get a feel of what sort of stuff i like runnng. Enjoy!
  11. Hi guys This is going to be a thread for me to show pictures of my layout. However, I need to take some first, so I cannot upload just yet. First off, my layout is built out of a few trainsets I got when I was younger, so I'm afraid its not quite up to scratch or realism with some of the amazing work I see on this site! The layout runs a mix of irish and US locos (I have this thing for GM products), so it isn't really prototypical, but I'm working on the mantra of 'its fun so why not?'. The layout is called Portwest because I have enjoyed many holidays in westport, so just put the name backwards. I will upload some photos later on, and any advice for changes would be very welcome!
  12. Another good cheap ballast is canary grit. It is meant for the bottom of the birds cage, but it is small grey stone chippings (just like branded model ballast) and comes cheap in massive cartons from pet shops. I've never actually tried it myself, but I don't see why it wouldn't work
