  1. Sorry - you missed your chance - we moved from Portarlington to co Antrim at Christmas! I see there are quite a few Laois people on this forum though.
  2. Thanks - I may give that a go as the new Dapol ones are due to arrive with me today. Does anyone have any recommendations as to paint colours? thanks,
  3. Someone recently told me that there was a good car paint spray equivalent for CIE orange - does anyone know what it is? I have a feeling it was either Vauxhall or Volkswagen. Thanks!
  4. I have the two coaches from the Bachmann Branchline 30-016 Jinty Suburban set, both in top notch condition, and am wondering whether anyone would be willing to exchange these for any kind of Irish coaching stock. Pictures of the set here: http://www.ehattons.com/17927/Bachmann_Branchline_30_016_Jinty_Suburban_complete_train_set/StockDetail.aspx Thanks!
  5. stevieB, are these still available?
  6. Thanks! The loco in question is the Bachmann N class in black, no 383 - I didn't realise it was restricted in space and time to the Deep South in the mid 50s. Just bought two of the a-prototypical new Dapol coaches so hopefully they'll do in the meantime. I'll try to work towards a rake as per the suggestion. Thanks - I appreciate you sharing what you know.
  7. I see the Mark's Models website says that "THIS MODEL IS NOT AN ACCURATE REPRODUCTION, BUT IS SIMILAR TO COACHES OF THIS PERIOD" (http://www.marksmodels.com/?pid=17293). That being the case, which is the best coach to use ? I'm really most interested in the late 1940s but am a bit perplexed. Thanks, everyone.
  8. May I draw upon the collective wisdom of the group to ask which models offer the most suitable coaches to be pulled by a Bachmann Woolwich in black? Apologies for my ignorance of the CIE scene.
  9. I was in Maine Models, Culleybackey, co Antrim, last night and noticed that they still have new items of Bachmann Irish Scenecraft station, signal cabin, and engine shed, new boxed and at the original prices, if anyone here is still looking for these. They are getting hard to find - especially at the original prices! 028 or 048, 2588 0473
  10. Can anyone advise me whether the Bachmann "Irish railway" sets sold in the US are actually HO, as the boxes say, or are they identical to the models of the same stock sold here as OO?
  11. Desert station: http://eiretrains.com/Photo_Gallery/Railway%20Stations%20D/Desert/slides/Desert_20110425_003_CC_JA.html Beautiful!
  12. Thanks - I must check to see if the real one has the same error! I'm researching what I could run with it in terms of passenger stock. I was surprised to find 207 in Enterprise livery in Cork ( ). I assume it was never on the Galway / Sligo lines. I commuted from Portarlington into Dublin for several years but don't ever remember seeing it there (though I was mostly travelling in the dark and wasn't really looking out for it). Could I get away with Mark 2 coaches? If I need Mark 3, does anyone have experience of using the vinyl overlays, which I could use to update a few old Hornby Mark 3s? thanks.
  13. Just took delivery of my LIMA 201 River Boyne 207 yesterday. But I've noticed that the English "River Boyne" is matched at the other end of the loco with the Irish "Abhainn na Life". Is this a rarity or was the entire run of this model mis-named in the two languages?
  14. Actually, I see that it's the Metcalfe one ...
  15. Patrick, I'm getting real inspiration from your work. Can you tell us more about the viaduct? Thanks!
  16. If they are in good condition, would you take the new price for each? From digging on the internet, I think that was around €25 each.
  17. Would anyone consider selling their Bachman Irish station or engine shed? Please PM me if so. Thanks!
  18. I've just received my Chris Dyer Jinty in NCC colours, but I see that the "NCC" logo on the side is in small lettering than the ones pictured here. Should I be worried about that? I can't find any helpful pictures of the real thing online. Thanks!
  19. Thanks, both - I've just this minute picked up a new Chris Dyer NCC Jinty, number 19, and ordered a few Provincial Wagons things earlier on today, so we're getting underway. I've made a list of the locos mentioned earlier on and will keep an eye out for them on eBay, with a view to having them repainted. Thanks everyone for your advice. And if any of you have any NCC carriages ...
  20. Thanks, BosKonay - run, I think! - so that would be the Bachmann you are recommending? I have a Bachmann Jinty in BR Black and it's a great runner, bought in Portlaoise when we were still living the dream.
  21. And another question - can anyone advise me on the relative merits of the Bachmann NCC Jinty and the Chris Dyer version of the same? Both are available at the moment in different places (not via anyone on this forum, so I'm not inviting acrimony!).
  22. Thanks Wrenneire - I have PM'd you so am looking forward to being in touch.
