  1. I wonder have Horby done anything with the wheels? Yes ,they are using an up to date wheels,gears/gearbox and motor. The wheels are closer to RP25 profile. No more pancake motors and steam roller wheels with rubber tyres. Regards Joe
  2. Gone be the days when you bought a Hornby set and put the two Ever ready batteries ( remember the ones with the big spring contacts ) into the plastic controller and away you went. Great days okay but now we have Murphy Models 141's , 201's and now even better days with more choice LOL Enjoy your day, Regards Joe
  3. Hi John I would be interested in two Tin Vans suitable for 1960's cravens plus black & tan 141's peroid. Regards Joe
  4. Hi Frank Richard Johnson of DCC Concepts in Aus is a TCS dealer,it might be cheaper and quicker delivery. If you still looking for a DCC system , I would strongly recommend the NCE Powercab which is fully expandable. Big Plus is that the Powercab it is Fully MNRA compliant.Have a look at their web site. Regards Joe
  5. Is it worth making a trip from Cork ? Any good deals on DCC controllers I would travel to Dunmanway instead to see James Dewar of Details Matter fame at 023 55615. Regards Joe
  6. K's were bought by Autocom , who also bought Nu-cast & Millholme. Autocom used to attend the UK shows but I have not seen them attending in the last eight years. Their e-mail is nu-cast@supanet.com. Regards Joe
  7. John Cambell made the T&D engine. When I meet John in Telford a few years back he was making a batch of ten T&D engines and the cost £2500. These are 15mm scale. models and propelled by live steam using lighter fuel. John makes his own patterns for the castings, turns his own wheels and photo etches. Check out the Clogher Valley tractor engine on neilr3 youtube. This is a Colin Binnie geared vertical steam motor. You can start small with a IP Engineering T&D rail car or pick up kit for £82. Have a look at his wagon kits nice & easy. Joe
  8. Very good indeed. Is this the same person, I wonder, who has that G scale "C" class featured here a few days ago ? Yes, this is the same person Neil Ramsey. The ''C'' class is made to 15mm scale 1:20.3 (3ft gauge on 45mm track). The C class and cattle wagon were made for transferring cattle to the narrow gauge and this would show the difference between irish broad gauge and narrow gauge. On page 38 of the current issue of Garden Rail 213 you can see Neil's work and the the difference between broad & narrow gauge cattle wagon. Check out Neils youtube videos under the name '' neilr3 '' . Joe
  9. Garfield '' the layout will have to be shoehorned into its new home '' How do you know this ? or are you guessing ? RTE + Merrion Street News have announced that it is to be put into a purpose built building,so I don't know how you know that the layout will have to shoehorned into a purpose built building when the building is not built. Do you know something that we don't know ? Leo & Co have made a bags of this as well as the country ? Joe
  10. It is official,it was announced on the RTE news at 18.00 with help from the transport minister Leo.
  11. I love the sound of the crossley engine sound chip...i wonder what loco it is out of I do believe it diesel R/C engine coupled to a generator. The generator is connected to a set of maxon motors on each bogie and the speed is controlled by a electronic speed controller (ESP) in series with the motors. The ESP is connected to a R/C reciever. This small diesel engine/generator set up has been done on the 16MM narrow gauge site a couple of years back of which Neil is a member of. I had the pleasure of meeting Neil a few years back at the Narrow Gauge show at Birmingham and seeing his large scale collection of Irish narrow gauge loco's / railcars. Have a look at his live steam Pheonix on you tube. Joe
  12. could you set this loco on a bit of track and put it on a part of the West Cork System.first C class In 50 years. If you e mail Neil Ramsey he might come over for a few pints of the real stuff. Joe
