  1. Class 24 powering out of the shed on The Brickworks.[video=youtube_share;tys8TaqQIRo]http://youtu.be/tys8TaqQIRo
  2. Interesting and great to see some Mk3s getting back to traffic. I used this service to Belfast in April and was disappointed at the very average speeds throughout. Had been up for the Belf. Mar and on the return service on Monday the only good run the train put in was between Dundalk and Drogheda - 75/80 mph for a short period. Overall disappointing and over-heard other passengers comment on the slow speeds of the enterprise! Looking at the traffic on the adjacent M1 the cars were passing out the train instead of the other way round. In view of the extensive M-Way network it's time for a few crack inter-city services to compete and beat road times between major cities.
  3. Thanks Kirley - I am a total greenhorn at this but trying to do best as possible with very limited resources.
  4. Thanks Broithe - I am still learning the mechanics of this site and was unable to post the direct link to the product. I checked out the postage too and it was working out at a reasonable rate of circa £6 to the ROI. Does anybody have a quick guesstimate for the total in Euro? I'm skint as usual but there's always the overdraft and she may never find out!!
  5. Hi Boskonay, I have no track plan but just seem to add a little as we go along! It is a real shoe-string effort and a big learning curve. Thanks for all the support from yourself and the rest of the guys on here.
  6. Hattons are now selling a Class 57 in Freightliner for a fantastic £134. A great price for some GM sounds dressed up as one of the British heavyweights.
  7. Apologies people - I meant to post this to the layout section. Can the mod help please?
  8. Continuing with a bit of scenery using budget materials. Herbs and green paint for fields and match sticks for border fencing. Unfortunately one has to try come up with ways around expensive scenic materials.
  9. Well done Railway Lyons - great job on the Mark IIs, excellent route for acquiring stock at a reasonable price. The locos look much better for these alterations.
  10. Hi, Just wondering can anyone confirm the correct weight of the Irish Rail ICR 22000 dmu? Wikipedia is giving them as 63 T per car! I know they carry lots of equipment underneath and the bogies are hefty but surely 63 tonnes per car is very heavy? If this is correct - then a 3 car 22000 ICR would be similar (in terms of total train weight), to a class 141/181/121 + 3 MKIIIs!http://www.irishrailwaymodeller.com/images/smilies/confused.png Thanks all.
  11. Of late I have been checking around the prices for Bachy DCC Sound fitted locos. As usual Hattons are very competitive (Particularly with their Class 57s and Class 66s in Freightliner livery). However, I think Seamus and the Model Shop, Portlaoise deserve huge credit for an example of excellent value with their DCC SND Class 20 in BR livery for an amazing 135e. P.s I don't get any gratuity for this advert just wish to highlight a great deal. http://www.irishrailwaymodeller.com/images/smilies/attachment-1.gif
  12. The wife picked up two of these for the boys while doing the weekly shop. They seem to be very close to correct scale for 00 scale layouts and they are affordable at 2.50 each. Available at numerous branches of a well know supermarket chain. Just wondering does that tanker lend itself to a transformation to a IR bogie cement wagon, or chopped version for a bubble? Be nearly as cheap as the kinders!
  13. Hi Joe Griffin1984, Sulzer201 here and I would be interested in taking any straight track, shorts, longs etc and also very short curves that take from points to making adjacent double roads. Many thanks, just PM me if you still have the track for sale. Tommy
  14. Just an update from the boys, they have now acquired a new tram to run with those bendy-buses!
  15. Have to agree - this standard of weathering is transforming the models and making them look exactly how they often appeared in traffic after 30 to 40 years of use. It's absolutely excellent weathering and I will definitely will be sending up some shiny locos for the 'treatment.'
  16. Old Meccano Turntable and some sections of old track (may be of interest to collectors?), for sale or exchange for standard 00 scale track. Thanks, Tommy.
  17. Thanks all for the help and advice. I will get order the part now. Much appreciated, Tommy.
  18. Would anyone have this type of coupler for the Bachmann 150 DMU? The coupler concerned powers the head/tail lights in the non-powered carriage. One shown has been damaged in shunting mishap! Thanks, Tommy.
  19. Hi Anthony, Unfortunately they are much larger than HO scale, or I would have taken ownership of them for the layout! I was in Holland 3 weeks ago and my little boys were asking for b-buses. The wife could not find any around locally and I managed to pick em up in a store in The Hague. Your a legend at the weathering and next time I have the funds 2 181s will be heading to the works in Newry. Tommy
  20. Sound advice - the 'For Sale' section on this website can be very good. I picked up this fine loco for just 80e recently. Thanks again BosKonay, she's took up residence in a good home - Don't know if the wife will like her stabling in the cabinet though!

    Bendy-Bus

These two Bendy Buses were imported from Holland in May. They are been operated successfully in the living room by my two young boys!! I added in a Bus Eireann vehicle for good measure.
  22. Well done Anthony, the 47 looks the business.
  23. Keep posting there wiggy, that is an amazing layout. Well done. Tommy.
  24. Finally got the first one built. I better not say how long it took me and I know there are probably lots of errors but it is my first attempt and I'm delighted to have it done. Two more to go and thanks all for help. I know they recommend you paint prior to construction, I do not have a sprayer,ATTACH] so any suggestions for best method of painting the tanker? Thanks again in advance, Tommy.
  25. Hi Declan and Gareth many thanks for that help. I should be able to proceed again. Regards, Tommy
