Just seen this- lovely piece of modelling.

I agree with David on the first two, My other preferred volume is Ian Rice's Plastic Structure Kits. My wife has bought me George Dent's new book "Weathering for Railway Modellers -Buildings Scenery and the lineside" for Christmas .First impressions are excellent. PS Have bought the latest Railway Modeller-must have a go at another van body for my East Anglian layout!.

Thanks folks. Correct David, especially the roof-first time I have tried it and it worked a treat! Sounds like a good free gift in the Modeller, something to practice on.

Grounded Van body This was an old kit not suitable for running so we made into a grounded van to fill a gap

Hi JHB Basically Followed Martyn Welch's method for creating concrete in his book on weathering. I actually found the method for corrugated asbestos produced the best effect. The post themselves are square plastic section painted with a mix of Humbrol Natural Wood (110) and Grey (64) (or Concrete 95) with some stippled in talc. You might have to test first before you get the colour that looks right for you - its the first time I have tried it and it certainly works Once dry you could add weathering in various dirty grey/brown mixes. Hoe this helps John Thanks for the kind comments Mick as always-its the support I get from you and everybody at the club and IRM that helps make it worthwhile.

Here are some photos of the Model of Bantry Oil Depot. Again we had very little to go on but an article in IRRS Journal 193 on Bantry Station Fire gives some important details of tanks etc. The model has been built on a separate board for insertion in to the main layout, hence the bolts. We have used Knightwing components for the tanks, Wills sheet for the bund walls, and Ten Commandments Security Fence Posts.

Excellent modelling

We should now start an udder topic!!

Well and truly dung!

Next up we have Bantry cattle dock. As you can see it is slightly rundown but still operational. All we had to go on for this model was a small photo in Colm Creedon's book vol 3 The lone cow was left over from the last train. Apparently he only had a pig class ticket.!

I agree-it is superb in the flesh-saw it and assisted at Lincoln-lovely models (rolling stock and buildings)
