Palvans in Ireland

Rate this question

Question

Seeing these on Patrick's layout got me wondering. When were they introduced in Ireland?

Reason being that Parkside do a 7mm scale version and I happen to have one. If they appeared by 1957, I might be able to justify one on Belmullet and this could add another 'transferable' wagon kit, alongside the Slater's tank wagon.

Any later than that and will have to wait until my early 1900s stock building become 1960s and that certainly ain't happening any time soon!

First ones into traffic 1965, yes, and in light grey. Brown after 1970.

They were noticeably taller than standard vans (a fact that incidentally Dapol seem to have overlooked - but theirs is simply a reliveried British one).....

Here is a comparison in size between a Provincial Wagons H van, a Parkside Palvan  conversion,  and a Parkside 12 ton van. To my eye the palvan looks undersized. Maybe too narrow? Has a anyone got the dimensions of the CIE version?
