enniscorthyman
eamonn , did irish rail actually buy second hand stock from BR? IR back in the late 80s were very much under pressure for rolling stock. If I am not mistaken the mk 2 a-b coaches came from Vic Berrys scrap yard to plug the shortage. The mk3a coaches were former demo coaches built by BREL In the 80s for export market.
