Davenport Posted December 31, 2024 Posted December 31, 2024 Hi all, Not sure if this is the right section but i purched a 121 recently, put the loco on the track and nothing working on either DC or DCC , ive taking off the body and all conections look fine, would anyone have any ideas? Thanks. Quote
Mol_PMB Posted December 31, 2024 Posted December 31, 2024 I think we’ll need some more information. There are many possible issues and you need to rule them out to focus on the problem. Do you have a multimeter to check voltages, resistance etc? In theory, is the loco set up for dc or dcc? Is it new or secondhand? cheers, Mol Quote

amdaley Posted December 31, 2024 Posted December 31, 2024 With the body off apply power to the motor terminals to see if the motor works. If the motor works then I would look at the pickups. Check the wheels, both thread & back to see if they're clean. Use cotton buds & IPA 1 Quote

amdaley Posted December 31, 2024 Posted December 31, 2024 If you look at a motor you will see two brush terminals where the wires from the pickups are connected. You apply DC power to these terminals to see if the motor is active. 2 Quote
Thomas Posted January 1 Posted January 1 Make sure that you disconnect the motor from the rest of the circuit, otherwise you will get a false result. Regards Brendan 2 Quote

ttc0169 Posted Monday at 22:52 Posted Monday at 22:52 I have had a recent experience with a 121 stopping suddenly-I cleaned the wheels and pick ups and added grease to the gears-no issues since. Quote
