Yesterday I enjoyed a day exploring the remains of the Scarva to Castlewellan GNR(I) line, in the company of Alan @Tullygrainey - thanks Alan!

Locations visited:

🚂 Scarva, including the impressive remains of the nearby Banbridge line bridge, which crosses the River Cusher

🚂 Drumhorc crossing - the original crossing keeper’s cottage remains and has been recently renovated

🚂 Lawrencetown - the bridge and part of the platform remain, along with the unusual stationmaster’s house, which is currently being renovated

🚂 Lenaderg - the stationmaster’s house remains and we were also told the platform survives in the undergrowth nearby, the owner is a descendant of the last stationmaster, and he was very interesting to talk to

🚂 Banbridge - the only substantial remnant is the former 2-road engine shed, although a nearby house on the road above the station site looks very much like it was the stationmaster’s house

🚂 Corbet - erased, although the bridge survives, along with a commemorative plaque

🚂 Ballyroney - a wonderful survivor, and currently being impressively renovated

🚂 Ballyward - we were politely informed that exploration is no longer possible, so we respected this and moved on

🚂 Castlewellan - nothing remains of the station, although the nearby bridge abutments remain along with the classic GNR(I) stationmaster’s house

An excellent day out, despite the weather ☔

Great stuff, gents and thanks for showing us!

The Victorians built to last!

Do you think that Grand Central will still be standing in a hundred year's time?

BTW, are you going to join forces and do the whole line .........

Yes thankfully I have covered it extensively in the past at least 😳

The Street View suggests that the station building itself has been bricked up and is in poor external condition.

Not quite bricked up, some of the windows still look as they should.  It’s a classic example of a WH Mills wooden GNR building.

On streetview, click on the "see more dates" and you get the option of Oct 2008 with the windows still intact and no clutter in the way.

Sorry, my phone isn't playing ball and refuses to let me do a screen shot.
