Dawn Quest Posted March 17 Posted March 17 I have built a fully monochrome exhibition layout based on the 1944 David Lean film. OO gauge and love to exhibit in in Ireland one day. Coming over this weekend as a visitor to the big Cork Model Expo show 14
Horsetan Posted March 17 Posted March 17 I don't think I've ever seen an actual layout in "black 'n white" before. Will be interesting to see if it sets a trend.
Flying Snail Posted March 17 Posted March 17 (edited) Very novel approach ... and I'm sure I'm not the only one that thinks this would look at home on it: https://www.accurascale.ie/blogs/irish-railway-news/only-the-one-shade-of-grey-800-in-photographic-grey-livery-completes-our-goddess-line-up Edited March 17 by Flying Snail 1
Signal Post Posted March 17 Posted March 17 Welcome to the forum Dawn, I'm sure @Westcorkrailway and the other local members will make you most welcome in Cork, usually referred to (at least by it's natives) as "The Real Capital" of Ireland! I'm sure you'll enjoy Cork, lots to see and do, friendly people and a foodies delight, be warned though, it's addictive and a place you may find yourself wanting to come back to again and again..... Dawn modestly omits to mention that she also runs a YouTube model railway channel https://www.youtube.com/@modelrailwayquest with some very interesting content, her Loconory series of videos are particularly well worth a look (especially the recent one about the late Ian Allan (publisher). 2 1

Also in B/W films, such as Brief Encounter, lipstick colours were green and not red, as that made a better contrast balance. 3 1
