A series of Hunslet enquiries

Hello all,

I have a few questions relating to the NIR 101 class hunslets.

Firstly, did a Hunslet ever work one of the occasional NIR fertiliser workings?

And secondly, it is my understanding that 102 was reinstated in 2002(?). Does anyone have details of what she actually did while in service at this time?

Thanks

Answer to first: yes, there was even a double headed Hunslet working of a fert out of Derry one time. It wasn't common, though, for them to do fert at all, but it did happen at the time they were in blue, not maroon afaik.

Regarding the reinstatement of 102; confined to Adelaide yard shunting.

Thanks for the information Jhb, I have a notion 102 may have done a railtour while in the new blue? Any idea if this is true?

Double hunslets, that must have been some noise!

I'm not sure, UP, I didn't hear of it. There was an ITG spin which had 102 just from GVS to Central - that might have been it. I think, but am not certain, that it used RPSI coaches and was part of a bigger tour with other locos round the NIR system.
