WRENNEIRE Posted January 9, 2015 Posted January 9, 2015 (edited) It is with deep regret that I have to inform you of the passing of a Modelling legend John Byrne, who worked for Lexie Keady in Toys International and later was the Hornby rep for Ireland He also ran a shop in Rathfarnham, Toyland John passed away at 6.30 am yesterday D'fhéadfadh go mbeadh Dia trócaire ar a anam As an aside to Johns sad passing, along with Lexie Keady he was responsible for the involvement of Lima in the Irish model railway scene John was a good friend of the Wrenn Brothers, George & Cedric. Wrenn had been involved with Lima and were pulling out of the arrangement to concentrate on producing their own models. John was informed that the agency was available and together with Lexie Keady they approached Paolo Bizzatza, the owner of Lima at the time. Shortly afterwards the first Lima HO models in Irish livery appeared and the rest is history. Reposing at the White Fathers Missionaries of Africa, Cypress Grove Road on Saturday from 2pm with Funeral Mass on Monday at 12 noon followed by burial in Bohernabreena Cemetery.
