Broithe Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 ..with the Adams Radial.. ..it'll probably be a while before we actually see a model - but, would it be of interest to us? It has an air of familiarity, but I don't really know my steam stuff very well.... Quote
Warbonnet Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 think they've had a prototype on show. Hornby doing one too but Oxford should beat them to the punch. Also doing some private owner wagons. Quote
jhb171achill Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 Always thought that was a very elegant design.. Quote
colmflanagan Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 I am not aware of any irish loco which looked particularly close to this, though some companies (GNR/BCDR/DSER) did use 4-4-2 tanks they were mostly of Beyer Peacock or Sharp Stewart manufacture, and looked quite different. However, I once used an old whitemetal "Ks" kit for this loco as the basis for a BCDR 4-4-2 tank, No 30 (the one in Culttra); It wasn't 100% accurate (naturally) but it's still running and no-one has ever mistaken it for anything else. The drivers are too small, you need to alter the rear pony truck wheel, remove outside cylinders...I don't think it would be generally practical to starting carving up an expensive Hornby or Oxford model, though. However, someone may want to do it. And you never know, I might just have another bash myself someday... Colm Quote
jhb171achill Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 Neat model, Colm. The Adams "Radial" tank, as initially pictured in this post, could with substantial remodelling of the side tanks be persuaded to represent a WLWR C5 class (as GSR designated them). There were but two, surviving until 1949 and 1957. Quote
