Which Brand and Colour Orange

Can anyone advise me which is the best brand and colour orange paint for IE

RAL2011 is the colour. Some automotive paint suppliers will mix it for you in an aerosol. I use cellulose through a spray gun.

I used Vallejo German Orange via an airbrush and it isnt too far off. I got the recommendation from someone on here or maybe on the old yuku forum but I cant find it at the moment. The other poster had used a paint from Citadel range which was their equivalent of the Vallejo one.

VW Brilliant Orange or Volkswagen Beetle Orange, as any good motor factors would say

I think that was me, I used GW Macharius Solar Orange which is more of a match for the older "black and tan" orange.

Bear in mind the colour became truly orange in the 80's - it was a duller browner shade before that, right back to 1962. When the 071s were first delivered, the colour they were painted in the USA was browner still until first Inchicore repaint.

I had a look at it last night next to my 141/171's. I havent done any Rolling stock with it yet, just lining on my loco respray.

 

The Vallejo orange is dark alright, closer to my IR liveried loco, the IE liveried ones have a brighter shade of orange.
