Cellulose thinners will move that but not on your cutting mat.

I'm delighted to see that you're learning about repainting models, and improving your skills as you go. Starting with a couple of cheap coaches is a great idea as a learning exercise, and they're looking good.

In this case think you're trying to work too fast. The green hasn't properly dried before you have turned the coach side over to do the brown.

Another thing to think about is the preparation of the parts before painting. If you want the paint to stick well, they need to be clean, dry and free of grease, so it's a good idea to clean them first and then let them dry properly.

I agree with this. You'll get a better finish, and it will dry more quickly, with a series of thin coats.

Where you're using green to cover red, it would be better to start with a light grey primer, which will neutralise the red colour and help you achieve a good even green colour without the paint having to be very thick.

I suspect there's little you can do to remove the paint from the worktop. If the surface is MDF then trying to remove it either by chemicals (e.g. thinners) or mechanically (scraping/sanding) is likely to make things worse.

A couple more thoughts. Think about the order you do the painting. On the coach sides it might have been better to do the brown interior first, then finish with the green exterior which is the most visible.

And you might consider something to hold the parts while painting, even if it's just a couple of matchsticks to keep them clear of the newspaper.

Finally, make sure you're working in a well-ventilated area with those spray paints.

    Keep up the good work!

    Good words from the Maestro

  2. Good effort but you seem to be layering on the paint way too heavy,.

A few light coats each time to build it up is the way to go.

Are you using different types of paint as the cracking tends to be caused by acrylics and enamels on top of each other?

    This affect looks good.

In these days of world turmoil, constant complaining, negativity, and division, sometimes it is nice to highlight the positives.

So, i just want to say a big thank you to IRM (Accurascale) on some wonderful customer service. Late on Tuesday (around 5.30pm), I submitted quite a big order for wagons. Fast forward to midday on Thursday, and a big box of goodies turns up. You couldn't ask for more.

No connection, apart from being a very satisfied customer (although my wallet may not agree!!! 😂). I'm going to get my pre-order in now for some unfitted H vans and some bubble cement wagons. Time to get saving!

    Thank you IRM 👏🏽

Bit price heavy @ £400, Diecast Body,  Love the lights. seems to be none above the valve gear which is a shame.  The oil smoke I dont like so much. The sound on the Vid is from an A4

The Conundrum is do I get one and reduce all the Hornby ones to srcap line or just be happy with what I have right now.

Pity they don't do a Partially payments.

Trump is only interested in himself and this own self-interest. And by extension, the tiny minority elite who he represents. If that means opposing Putin today, but then supporting him tomorrow, so be it. I honestly don't think he has any moral compass. His only motivation is money, power, and influence.

And let's face it,  at his age, he doesn't give a flying f#€k about the consequences for future generations. What does it matter if his tarrifs screw the world for the next couple of decades, he won't be around to see it.

Unless of course he is cryogenically frozen and lives forever. Or indeed is injected with bleach to make him immortal........

"Trump is only interested in himself and this own self-interest"  -Same goes for anyone you vote for....

  6. Nice set up, Is that the Heljan Class 11. Nice sound out of it when compare to the Hornby one I have.

  7. Small update on the layout stalled due to Govt funding but on the roll again.

Laid some more paster bandages down on the lower level,  need to finish off the fiiddle yard Catenary guides there before I can close off the tunnels

Carved and coloured a test piece of insulation foam as a rock face and well happy with the outcome.

Picked up some nice cobble from the scenic chap at the Wexford show and some lovely trees (lazy!!) so I hope to incorporate those into the hostel.

Also will have a concrete loading area set up on the west siding, bit tight but thats life!!

China (and everyone else) buys US government debt in the form of Treasury Bills. The US has historically had to pay very low interest rates on this money so it can use it to fund whatever it wants, including the US DoD budget. The US is in a unique position in the world in this regard.

Interesting must take a look into it.  handy to have the ol 36 trillion debt hanging about then. No wonder they are trying to tackle that.
