@Warbonnet, that's very decent of IRM. Pity you're not the landlord of my local pub, he increased the price of a pint [Heineken] by 20 cent yesterday - I am incensed. Will not darken the door of that pub for a very long time.

I see that Sam has posted a video on YouTube about 'Mean Comments'. Didn't think he read posts on this website. As suggested by someone on here, I didn't click on his Channel.
I took a look, His Missus running that one, Skipped through it.

That's true Noel but thanks to that same duopoly a flight to London was about 200 pounds minimum. That was a huge chunk out of an average salary back then. The best thing Thatcher ever did for Ireland (possibly for anyone) was breaking the duopoly. The Irish government did not want to let Ryanair get off the ground. Pardon the pun.
Ah it was not that bad if you booked early enough, I remember booking up flights in the 90's in July for IAT Fairford, 88 Punts with EI. Took Me Camera Gear, Step Ladder, Tent and clothes back for nothing extra. probably have the ticket somewhere if I looked. Hate to see what that would cost with FR.
Back then you only travelled if you had to. Now Like Noel I hate it, Now Take the Ferry to the UK when I have to.
So Silver Fox can't or won't deduct the VAT from the invoice?

Hi Phillip,
Good work Phillip and nice purchase.
When doing Stencils and the masking tape is not wide enough the lads just overlap the tape on each other

You'd want more than a Tweezer tbh! Fraid I as gonna break the Coupling with the pressure, same as pulling the Bogie out had to push it out from the top!
In the end I took the bogie off, then the coupling altogether and a squeezed and dragged the buggar out. Plastic on those is extremely hard,

Heading up toDonegal via Enniskillan last weekend saw me pop into the Modellers Den and they had some 121 sound chips on the shelf so second one was purchased, 645 variant.
Both 121 now have sound decoders in them, and they do sound sweet. Especially shunting.
This is using a NCE cab but when I consist of them the sound functions seem not to be available under the consist number, Maybe I need another read of the Manual again!
Here on the MM Mark 2's. Tried to switch the couplings to Kaydees but the Mediums are too small and snag. By god the Tensions are hard to get out.

According to Fran's post this should not be live until Friday 9am, might take a few more if they are left and can be shipped with the Dicky Taras
Order them earlier and got the 20% off. Should make a nice colourful addition to the Irish set stock. 58 quid a pack!
DJ, For me it was a case of loads of things coming together VRS the cash in hand so these were put on the long finger and kinda paid off.
There is a qty of 42 of one pack left so interesting if the punters will go for this. Did no know they ran so long in this livery, and I have never actually seen a Tara train in action. From 1977 and repainting in the early 1990s, with Supertrain, Supertrain with IR logos and IR white lined livery providing motive power during this time.

The fact that it's 13 NEW tooled LINES is quite scary. Not 13 products throughout the year, but lines, excluding re-runs like Bubbles. Time for hardcore austerity measures.
Wow lots to look forward to!
While personally delighted with being able to run full Irish Trains I fear People only can take on so much spending, especially even in part monthly payments, MM stuff and other bits n bobs not too mind finishing a layout!
The ICR's pushed me over the sensible monthly limit with Mk.2s and Banana vans on order so I stopped there without a purchase of an ICR, I think I have enough Flat/Bubs/Ferts as well as this stage.
I'll look forward to seeing what will be coming out in future and choose carefully, but I think I'll hover at the CIE to IE Era as the operating era. Tis a bit more fun me thinks.
I'll leave the railcars to the kids and watch that fun on U tube.

Frigging in the rigging
No, not the name of one of the local beers produced in the Chatham Dockyard Brewery, though I could do with a bottle or three after trying to set up rigging on the Acla. Indeed, compared to a three hour crossing in a Force 9 between Cairnryan and Belfast a week last Friday, it would be a hard choice on which I'd do again in a hurry...
... and this is just a simplified version! The Langley instructions use the term "plumber's nightmare" to describe what doing the whole lot can be and looking at scale plans, am afraid I've taken the easy way out. Goodness knows what it must be like to include it all, let alone in 4mm scale!
I've used elasticated thread, so that I can unplug the main mast for transport. There should be six lines [three each side, but I've only done two] from the mast, plus one to the bow and then the cabling to the derrick. Most of these lines use a type of adjustable "turnbuckle" affair to secure them to the hull. The model boat shop in the Historic Dockyard does sell working versions of these - and very nice they are too - but at £3.50 each, that wasn't going to happen. Instead, I fabricated [bodged] alternatives by flattening the end of some 1mm brass wire and then drilled holes in each end to take loops of .5mm brass wire to which I could then attach the thread. Those a 1cm squares below.
To say that all of this was a bit of a faff is an understatement - likewise drilling out tiny white metal castings of pulley blocks, while threading elasticated thread through all of this was challenging to say the least. Ultimately though, it all came together [ish], as can be seen from the two main pictures. I would hate to have to rig a sailing ship!
Have a look at my RC puffer for the rigging, might be a bit clearer do decipher.
