"limit their purchases to what's available in Irish model shops"
There in lies the big issue, Popped into the LMS the other day very little paint, Ones I needed not there (Humbrol) Incomplete range of Humbrol Sprays (went to Halfords and dropped 40 notes) no Balsa wood, super Super glues, none of the KS brass I needed.
Model Railway Shelves were sparse I could say.
I said it here before there is a good opportunity to capture the Irish based UK buyers here with a properly stocked shop as it will get daft buying in small stuff from the UK.

Might be late to the Party on this one but what a Fab idea! check from 4.45 mins. Interesting Video too. Wonder so the A class has a disappearing Fran in it.

An Post seem to be using a "belt and braces" policy and charging VAT when they are unsure whether Irish tax is due on a delivery. Is the customs value of €52.11 the amount you paid for the goods? VAT of €13.31 doesn't look correct as it is 25.54%.
They might be adding in the Freight cost to the invoice total as Vat would be paid on both these together.

Thanks for that, placed and order with Cornwall Model Boat a few days ago. They are after sending this now with Fed Ex. God Knows what I will get caught for a handling charge now, It won't be €3.50 that for sure. Ar$e.

A few impressions from the very short (2km) Chiemsee-Bahn in Prien, Bavaria.
The railway was built from the beginning to shuttle visitors from Prien station down to the moorings at Stock, the same job it still does today. From Stock, boats can be taken over to the islands in the lake (2nd largest lake entirely within Germany, 3rd largest if you include Lake Constance).
Terminus in Prien. Mainline rail running parallel out of shot to the right:
View in other direction towards Stock with train arriving:
After arrival in Stock on the return service which was the last train of the day, the loco is quickly uncoupled and heads towards its shed for the night:
The coaches will spend the night in the station:
The coaling station for the steam loco that only works weekends:
And some models from the waiting room:
And just for George, the beer I enjoyed over on the Herreninsel:
Man Alive, What a place to visit!. I'd have a Great Holiday with you kid!!, leave the missus at home the next time
I see there is a Paddle Steamer on the lake too, Is that in operation?. If Only I visited Germany years ago to savour these delights!

I have just had an email and text message from An post (Irish post office) to say that I have to pay VAT + handling charges on two parcels from Hatton's!!! They are both well below the £135/€150 limit.
Email sent to An post explaining that Hatton's are registered for Irish VAT, now awaiting their response.
Hello IM,
can you please advise how Much is the Handling charge? do they separate this figure out?

We passed through Berchtesgaden yesterday actually George:
That's the completely out of proportion Hauptbahnhof. Berchtesgaden is the smallest urban District in Germany with its own Hauptbahnhof.
Built like that to receive you know who and his mates.
The missus wouldn't sanction a trip up to his "place in the mountains" lol.
Lunch with liquid accompaniment was had here on Wednesday George. Not Bavaria but Austria. Movie buffs may recognise this courtyard....
Flipping unreal! Jealous!
This guy does a Fab Selection of then and now videos of WWII Germany and Post WWII. Still a lot there if you keep the eyes peeled.

Davc I think had some snazzy stuff joing the boards on his Layout to join up. might of been all straight sections though.
After also doing a baseboard join on a curve I used PCB board with Rails soldered to them. Not got round to cutting them through just yet. This is behind the scenic area so is heavy duty.

Hi Gareth,
The cutout should handle radius two curves as it's a kinematic coupling.
Hi Patrick,
They will be shipped with one coupling fitted as per photos with the second in the accessory pack for you to install if desired. They just clip into the NEM pocket.
Cheers!
Fran
I'll do up a short 50 Minute you tube video on fitting this if it suits folks.
