  1. Hi Lads,

The Finishing line is coming up soon I hope unless the misses pushes me to lay a patio out the garden but we are in situ now for 20 years and never seemingly needed one till now. In Ireland we would use it for about 3 days I expect a year so complete waste of good cold cash, Pond enlargement would be better!

Anyhow a quick visit to Halfords last weekend before another a climb of Ireland highest mountain and which was Probably my 3rd retail visit over the past 8 months was taken to get some primer for the hull this was sprayed on and any blemishes dealt with.

Next was the Pre Shading of black and white to take the boring flat grey scape off of the hull. another cost of the Red needs to be done yet but took her out in the natural light to see what needed to be done and the pics below are the results. This was all done by Airbrush. A Badger 155 Anthem I have had for years.

Does anyone know what glue Bachmann used on these mk2a's? Was it CA or a plastic weld? They overdid it on my BR FKs all around the glazing. I'd like to remove it of it's CA.

No idea I expect Weld as Super glue would of clouded the glazing?

  3. Would could would you like Blaine, Maybe JM can do a Blaine limited issue box for you in a different shade.

I knew I'd seen that box style before, could you not have chosen a different colour........

All Johns hard work to do this and there is a Crib about the colour of the box.

  4. This was on the GRP Moulding Mark - Thankfully done for me!

However I supplemented lost ones using Track pins. Possibly a round headed pin /Dolls house hinge nail inserted into a drilled hole would do the trick, Long process though.

Another method is PVA and a Cocktail stick or Syringe and drop little droplets of glue onto the hull.

Was once in W&H in 1994 visiting the London branch of the family. Bought two Bachmann coaches there out of the pocket money!

No model shops in London now, save for Janes Trains in Tooting I believe.

Sad isn't it, I Always would divert to Holborn when the missus messed about in Oxford Street or Hannants in Hendon . SFA there now

One in Northfields, Quick hop off the Tube in or out to LHR. Never knew it was there when I lived nearby as the Spinning wheel (Irish Pub) used to be about 4 doors up and I never got beyond it!

You might get a headache looking inside it though!

  6. Thanks Popeye,

There a Reservoir in Fermoy about 20 mins drive away (great for Fresh water swimming too) or I meet the 'Boat' Lads on a Sunday am at the Atlantic pond by the GAA Grounds in Cork City.

Probably test it in Fermoy first to save embarrassment of failure in front of loads of people on their Sunday walk in Cork!

  7. A Call into Halfords on the way to Carrauntoohil to pick up some rattle can primers saw the hull painting begin yesterday, Pre shading now next. Red for the bottom as this hopefully will be hard wearing and grey on the top part! Done outside yesterday before the rain came back again.

Hand Rail cappings done also and you can see the Bulwark supports are in on the Port side.

Not the greatest of photos as I am using high ISO.

Pics of the mountain too! Damp!

Can I ask again that names and contact numbers are printed in BLOCK CAPITALS please
This is a prerequisite for contact tracing!
It is very obvious that some of you guys did not receive a Christian Brother education!

    Ouch!

Normally, George, I would agree - but have you seen the track on the Trans-Sib?

On the other hand, especially for you 21mm Men, they will already have endured a gauge change from Broad Gauge to Narrow Gauge - I'm told it's not painful!

The only time i did it personally (going TOWARDS China), I cheated and changed from Narrow Gauge to Broad Gauge by changing trains completely at Brest Litovsk.

We use rail here for some customers, Works Really well TBH. Some adventure there Leslie!

  10. Flipping heck Some amount of gear goes through that place looking at the 'About us'

I do ponder if this is mostly old chaps stuff gone to the model shop in the sky as lot of it is quite old, obviously appeal so some folks.

Lots of bids undervalued at low prices to hook in the punters for the bidding war. Last one I bid on was a G Scale Mannin, Estimated @ 400-500 went for £1400 in the end!

Now the Isle of Wight is a place I like to revisit, Maybe by Hovercraft! only 25 quid for a flight!

You do have some stuff under you belt Broithe. (whats that Latin for? :))

  11. Cool, I take a look at the Firestick thing to see if it is on that, Mabye an Action man one would be great.

The Rib with working motor was awesome!

The Tank looks Nah now but to a 8 y/o ad the bees knees, Some battles were had with the Rib, Helicopter and the Tank.

Seen this pop up, I had a few punts over the years with Vectis and never won a tad, Lure you in with tiny prices and then bang all hell breaks loos.

If you have not looked at the Vectis site they do cover lots of interesting toys and Lot and lots or trains, Wont be bidding anymore now though now with Brexit. too much hassle. Good Publicity though. fly on the wall about IRM would be mad Eh!

I don't mind some of the programs on yesterday (gave up on the Brooklands one though)  but there is lots of repeated shots and lots of Add so better of watching it of catch up or tape it.
