  2. More from the Alex Ford/The Transport Library today, due to a cock up er technical error some of the file sizes are not very large. If anyone actually orders a scan or print from the Library please mention my name as it would facilitate me getting my hands on other Irish material hidden away in their Archives. AF0061 Harcourt St Dublin D10 310 27June50 AF0122 SLNC Sligo Goods branch 'Lurganboy' 3 July 1950 AF0130 SLNC Sligo 'Enniskillen' 3July1950
  3. Three more Roy Denison views today, this time on the CB&SC. First view shows 2 x 6 wheelers attached to the Bantry railcar at Albert Quay. Apparently these were detached at Drimoleague and added to the branch train to Baltimore (2nd view). They returned the next day via Drimoleague and then behind the railcar. 3rd Photo at Clonakilty Junction June 1958.
  4. Mine is made by Dart Castings, 2 separate models of a donkey and what is described as a Farm dung cart I think. The cart is 8 castings and you could just leave off the body if you wanted to model the 'flatbed' version as at Valencia.
  5. A fair amount of negatives etc arrived whilst I was sampling Hospital hospitality and I am gradually working through them. There are approx 180 negs taken by the Roy Dennison and the CDRJC slides may also have been his work. CDRJC 1960-06-xx Barnesmore Gap CDRJC 1960-06-xx Strabane, these 2 post closure but before track lifting etc completed. CIE 1958-06-03 Valencia Harbour - I've acquired a donkey and cart for Glengarriff - just needs painting!

  8. I went on faecesbook and there are actually 2 Groups with the same name, Omagh GNR(i) Railway Archive https://www.facebook.com/groups/806045683680361 This is a private group with 189 members. Johny Alexander is an Admin Do you know Johny Tony https://www.facebook.com/groups/158990799524527 This is the public group with 69 members that Wilson is Admin for
  9. OK Jim 3 views of the Donegal from June/July 1960 after closure but whilst they were lifting the track and before the scrapping of stock etc.
  10. The name Wilson Adams rings a bell although in my present state of health/mind this might not mean much. Years ago I used to have an internet group for Irish railways which I closed down when Messenger or somebody stopped providing Group facilities. Some of the lads on here were members. Wilson Adams moniker was K9 and he was OK. I havn't a clue how he managed to become an Administrator of your Group though Tony.
  11. 3 more from the Alex Ford/Transport Library today. AF0123 SLNC Sligo Goods branch 'Lurganboy' 3 July 1950 AF0095 GNRI Dublin Amiens St. 126 'Bundoran Express' 25 June 1950 AF0092 CIE Dublin Amiens St. F1 438. 25 June 1950
  12. A couple of Casserley views today, Strabane GNRI 1948-04-20 Strabane North end 120 , 11.30 Belfast - Derry HCC51747 GNRI 1948-04-20 Strabane 121, 9.25 Derry-Belfast HCC51732 There are some 200 original negs/slides on there way to me plus an album of old photos of unknown origin so more material in the pipeline.
  13. I have been working on getting the late Alex Ford's photos from 1950 processed with the copyright overlays I have agreed to put on in return for being able to use the views on flickr. Three more done today . 2 views of C2 456 at Greystones 29 June 1950 and J5 644 climbing the bank from Sligo Goods with a banker looking at the steam in the distance 31 June 1950
  14. Thanks for your messages guys, I am back but it may be awhile before I am up to speed.
  15. Join the clan! I've a pile of American narrow gauge books as well especially those in Maine and Colorado. I couldn't resist the Fairlie and I've also got 2 of the Peco FR England locos on order. I can put a 5' x 2' roundy roundy at approx eye level above one of the Glengarriff 'hidden' end boards.
  16. 036 brings the A total up to 7, it could have been more but the horse at Drowes Mill threw a shoe and the Owners decided to upgrade to steam power, however I think they have possibly over-done it but they couldn't resist it.
  17. 1998/9 today taken by Graham Roose Claremorris with the Ballina branch ECS departing for Manulla 29 March 201 class 210 has a spell on the branch set 28 March 1999 127 on the Limerick shuttle at Ballyryan 6 April 1998
  18. There is one on the mixed train here although not next to the coach so the vacuum brake would not be connected (unless the cattle wagon next to the coach was through piped or didn't have such a notice as it hasn't SLNC lettering). Given that the last vehicle looks like the Brake Van it probably didn't matter too much but would have given the passengers the odd shaking.
  19. I have catalogued this collection and have as a result obtained permission to use the views on flickr. There are some 110 Irish images from July 1950. Naturally I have started with the SLNCR! 3 viwes from the 1 July.
  20. First a faded colour view at Guinness Brewery ca 1962. Next 218 at Howth 28 Sept 1978. The last one is ca 1920 or even earlier NCC A Class 66 at York Road
  21. This one has appeared in print a few times , J G Dewing's original slide Omagh May 1960 Then a couple on the C& L Arigna branch in June 1957 5T on a coal train and 4T with the guard supervising shunting (whistle not a radio in his hand!) next to a couple of metal sheathed brake vans.
  22. You can still get the traditional wire in tube from lychett Manor who acquired the old Gem Mercontrol system. As you are living in the UK Tony there shouldn't be any "import" problems. They stopped using the copper tube many years ago when Cornard (now defunct) started manufacturing the same type of system but using plastic type tube. Address/web site on the photo.
  23. Looking at the image of A42 at Dun Laoghaire the overall colours of the view look a bit suspect to me when you compare it to this July 1960 view of J G Dewings which is from an original Kodachrome slide in my collection. How much would this affect the green hue I wonder?
