  1. Bring that 73 too, want a closer look at it, make sure you haven't been cheating!
  2. Used to sell a bit of Marklin and LGB if I remember correctly? A thread on the old retailers we remember would be a great idea. Be interesting to see who got us into this hobby in the first place! History in itself.
  3. He has a great chance of doing it, especially as Contador is still banned. Maybe the Schleck brothers will have different ideas though. Should be interesting.
  4. Glad you liked them, here's his other video. Enjoy!
  5. If Ward isn't fouled, maybe the goal isn't scored. We did give the ball away cheaply for it though. I agree with Croatia giving the other two teams a game, but I still fancy Italy and Spain to progress.
  6. I think that's slightly unfair. We had no luck, foul on ward for the second, done out of a pen, bounces of givens head for the third. They were the better team nonetheless and will give the other two a game. We need to stop giving the ball away so cheaply. Great effort overall by the players, but they're limited. Do we really think they'll get out of the group? I didn't before tonight, no matter how much I want us to. Getting there is our cup victory.
  7. Bizarre team, but I reckon it would be Silva rather than Cesc furthest forward, surely? Wonder if 'nando will seek talks with the King of Spain about feeling unloved.
  8. Same here, the BR green isn't bad but nowhere near as nice as the maroon or even LMS lined black. I was impressed by Tangmere even though she was going slow, the deep base of the exhaust sounded awesome. Oliver Cromwell was nice too, and the 47s at full pelt were enjoyable as well. They are indeed, but I think we'll keep seeing diesels on the back for a while yet. Was it much effort to speed step Tornado and the 47?
  9. Some inspiration for the weathering artists on here. 'Mellow Mike' regularly posts on US train forums showing off his latest projects. The rest of us mere mortals can set our faces to the 'stunned' option. Enjoy!
  10. A nice video from yesterday with Duchess of Sutherland. Looks like that Mark 1 ban has indeed been lifted. This is one steam loco I would love and pay to see in action on the mainline, especially over the gradients of the WCML, the line she was built for. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6pttx8G7c4M&feature=g-u-u
  11. It also is to do with shunting when you get to a terminus station as there's no longer any shunting locos based at the big stations. For example (and a shameless plug of my own videos!) here's Tangmere at Willesden Junction with a 47 on the rear on its way down to Euston. [video=youtube;-zm15QjFCuc] Then the 47 pulls the whole lot back out of Euston towards Wembley yard so Tangmere could be taken off the train and turned around in a loop The 47 is also providing electrically supplied heat to the train. Steam locos do not have this facility and can only provide steam heat, which not all coaches are compatible with these days. The amount of railtours that happen in the UK each week boggle the mind. The following weekend this WCRC rail tour with a 47 each end almost caught me unaware... While waiting for this, Oliver Cromwell. This was supposed to be an A4 but a fault with the loco meant the Britannia was swapped on at the last minute. Still, a decent replacement! As you can see with the steam escaping halfway through the train this was steam heated. Nice an atmospheric Some DRS 47s double heading the Southampton-Edinburgh boat train I caught all these over two weekends, and it would've been more only for it being December and the lack of sunlight in the evenings. Both were in the London area with Willesden Junction offering up loads of freight too while Oakleigh Park was the local station beside where I was staying. That was also just in London, with lots more going on around the country. A tip for you too Anthony, as you can see in both my steam videos a Mark 2 ventilated coach is the first coach behind the loco. There was a ban on locomotives coupling straight up to Mark 1 stock for 'safety' reasons for a few years. However, I think this has been lifted recently. In my Tangmere video I believe it uncoupled with the green Mark 2 for the run around in the loop, the 47 then reversed onto the back and Tangmere and the Mark 2 coupled onto the end the 47 was originally on. The whole lot when back down to Euston to pick up passengers but it was dark by the time this all happened so I didn't get a video. However, I believe that ban has recently been lifted.
  12. Nice one Anto, reminds me of my childhood days. That Q Kits A class is a work of art, fair play to you for getting it up to such a high standard!
  13. Absolutely, he's polished a few turds for me in the past! However, it needs a lot doing to it before he gets his airbrush out, sneak peak at progress so far...
  14. +1. They're not all rags, even though I've worked for some in the past.
  15. Wouldn't wipe me backside with that rag, awful publication. I'll soon be a captain of industry Anto and will build my O gauge brass empire with the proceeds!
  16. Do you take milk and sugar Seamus?
  17. Managed to get a quick video of the Olympic Flame as it passed outside the office in Dublin City Centre today. Great to see it in Dublin. Torch was being carried by Tony Sutherland, father of the late Olympic bronze medal winning boxer Darren Sutherland. Anyone else see it today?
  18. Ah, for the craic. 1. 071s 2. A Class 3. 141s 4.121s 5. Hard to choose between the B101s, 113/114 and Cs Steamers are just big teapots anyway.
  19. Virginian SD70ACe. The ACe's are pig ugly but they can really carry off these liveries well. http://www.railpictures.net/images/d1/8/8/3/6883.1338892959.jpg
  20. Such a sad end to a project filled with optimism. It's such a pity that the APT didn't succeed. Now it's descendants race up and down the line they were designed for every day.
  21. Ok, I'm impressed. Did you add any weight to the 73? I have 5 vitrains 47s, and have all been good pullers! The lights are poor though, you're right there!
  22. Saw this recently myself, great find! There were some great BR documentaries made in the 80s in particular, it's a pity we rarely see such things now.
  23. Another thumbs up for the trainsave decoders, great value for money.
