  1. I think you ll find that there's more than adequate information on what is/has been available on this site between the resources section and wrens murphys thread. Plus there's also drawings etc of all major locos and rolling stock that ran on the network over the years
  2. Many thanks for the comments lads, shes mounted on a bachmann cl 66 chassis but I still have a bit to do till she actually goes around any curves
  3. 112 has a new blue buddy Still not finished the roof grill, wipers, glazing, light fittings, cabs but she ll be ready soon:banana:
  4. Excellent Des that looks really well, will be in touch over the next few days.
  5. Dare I say a resin 2600 cie railcar or a resin Bandon tank
  6. My old layout was 8ft x 4ft, it had a station with passing loop, loco depot on one side, countryside on both ends and had a 4 line storage yard on the other side. I could put up a plan of it later if you like. Max train size was a 141 with 4 cravens & a gsv.
  7. Excellent, looking forward to it
  8. Rich, I think it's part of the Winterval trail, checked it out earlier on while on break. There's some nice modelling on show there, really like the ships
  9. Studio scale models do a brass kit and silverfox do both rtr and kits of the gennies.
  10. Best of luck with the exams Richie
  11. Couldn't agree more Seamus but it'd be more classy if it was a West Cork layout based on the 31/3/61 and watch Tubridy squirm out of that one:o!!!!
  12. I use Ssm lining and I find it great to use and get good results every time.
  13. I can remember getting mail order stuff from Philsboro as they advertised in the Railway modeller but I was never in the shop unfortunately.
  14. €25 from Marks
  15. The adaptors are cheap enough, the hornby decoders are not that expensive. To be honest I d change the controller as in the long run you d be better off.
  16. The select is not entirely dcc compatible, I used one for a few years, it was fine while using hornby chips but other chips could misbehave If your using a bachmann 21pin chip the problem may lie there to solve it you could get a normal 8 pin hornby decoder and an adaptor to fit the 21 pin socket on your 141.
  17. What chip are you using?
  18. The old hornby ones are terrible for it, they go red hot as I found out when I tried to hardwire a split chassis mallard a few years ago!!!!. I can t see any more 201kits coming to the bench but I wouldn't rule out one or two Murphy 201's joining the other 6:p. Hopefully the sprayer will be finished soon, just waiting till payday to order the decals
  19. They re a majestic beast alright, top job George
  20. Excellent work George time well spent by the looks of things
  21. Many thanks for the comments Lads:tumbsup:
  22. Nope, a fairly bad electrical smell and a scorched decoder was the only damage.
  23. The oldest loco in the fleet 388 also had her chip replaced after i got some interesting smoke effects from the old decoder along with a service she got 2 new crew plus new irons etc
  24. Been fixing the old ladies of the fleet 3 mir 204,205,212 and lima 202 with new chips as the old hornby ones were terrible, gave the bachmann chassis s a service as well they re running sweeter than ever now!!!!. The marks models 201 kit has had a new bachmann chassis fitted and SSM 201 detailing kit plus new handrails, hep points im waiting on a new roof mesh as the a1 detailing pack is unavailable so i got a spare bachmann one instead.
