    Hi all

I'm curious if any of the current IRM bullied based wagons ever ventured into the North, places such as the derry road or irish north west particularly. as when I come to creating a layout based on my irish stock I'll most likely base it somewhere local to me.

Yes here is a picture of one from the O'Dea Collection. Bullied Vac Braked H  Van at the rear

The IRRS Flickr site is a real eye opener with colour photos of pre-Amalgamation wagons in service into the late 60s including ex-Midland and West Cork Open Wagons (Irish Standard Open) and a MGWR Covered Wagon (similar to GNR) in brown with wheel logo).

I guess I will have to add some of these wagons to my collection.

The IRRS Flickr site is an invaluable resource for the railway modeller with many  unseen pictures of rolling stock available to inspire anyone modelling the Irish Scene .

I don't know if some were built with the heavier buffers or later upgraded but both types were in service together into the seventies.

I think some may have had their buffers replaced as they years went by with the more modern buffers as they came in for repairs and overhaul in the works  the addition to the newer slightly larger buffers the couplings also changed from three link to instantor type .
