Do the 1971 batch of 30001 to 30099 still run on ride control bogies today, or have they been updated with Sambre et Meuse bogies?
Not that I am aware of the first ones to be withdrawn were of this type a number of the ones at Mallow BFS were the older 30001-30099.

Sorry, bit dim here, but what does that mean? There are two types of 42' Flats?
No , your certainly not dim , there were two batches of 42’ containers flats , the first batch were built 1971 30001-30099 distinguished by using ride control bogies and second batch 30100 onwards built 1974 using sambre et meuse bogies virtually the same wagons.

Received my Liners and Guinness this morning and they are fabulous wagons, I do notice that some of the wagons are numbered below 30100 which were the 1971 original 42 flats , I thought the ones that IRM were doing were the 30101 upwards numbers?

Hi Fran,
Great to chat at the show today - congratulations again to all at IRM for the tremendous range and quality of products for modellers of all abilities. Very pleased that my ordered kegs, fertilisers & containers are imminent.
A suggestion for all of us who missed the "dickies" (swallowed up by all the "January Sales" folks yesterday !), to help fair availability and control large accumulation by some, perhaps you might consider a max quantity per existing IRM customer in the Black Friday event ? - just a thought.
Regards,
George
That’s is a very good idea and perhaps a way of rewarding IRM loyal customers and at the same time discourage the skelpers.

Does anyone know how long 174 stayed in that STIR livery?
Thats a difficult one to answer 174 made it into full IR livery prior to its withdrawal in sometime circa 1993 there are other examples of 141's in STIR livery up to 1991 /1992 if not beyond.
A Jonthan Allen picture of a weathered 174 in 1992
One question I forgot to ask yesterday when visiting Paddy Murphy's stand was the ETA on the 141/181 class additions.

I was looking to get a full rake of the scones, but the butter was a rather deeper yellow than it should have been.
It ought to be more of a 'straw colour' really.
Well, if you're hungry enough I'm sure the scones would pass the 2ft rule.

Have to say, the highlight of the show (for me) was the cafe. Had three cups of tea, a ham sandwich and a couple of extremely tasty scones.
You must have been famished and I hope it was extra strong Lyons tea after all those announcements.

Does anyone know when they started painting the roofs black?

Make sure that all of us who are in attendance are around the stand before you make any announcements - I've been waiting for this moment for the last three years
You never know they might organise a party of drummers from the Artane band to do a drum roll commencing at 1055 so you car hear it happening.

I’m looking forward to the announcements more then anything…other then those Tara’s, I don’t see myself buying anything…unless there are some “green and grey” era stuff (as @jhb171achill has christened it) I won’t be interested in a whole pile. I’d like to see what tailte tours are up to next, see these murphy’s toolings ect.
besides I can’t afford to be throwing 1000 euro at some models….well the bandon tanks are an exception to the rule
For that reason I’m trying to encourage myself to save money on me heating

So close now. The excitement surrounding IRMs latest releases is building. Going to camp outside St Paul's tonight so I'll be first inline to get into the exhibition. If anyone wants to say 'hello' I'll be the long haired, weird looking dude wearing a black anorak and dark blue jeans (they were light blue when I bought them). Hope that those of you who can make it to the show have a great time.
PS. Wonder if it'll be too early to start 'trick or treating' tomorrow? Could end up leaving the exhibition with a bag full of goodies.
I hope it's not going to be like the start of the sales after Christmas when the waiting horde is unleashed into the store like greyhound's out of a trap.

That is unfortunate news, it's unfair to blame the customs official as someone who works in the business what one usually finds is someone somewhere has got something wrong a description a code etc as customs have said they have a system and people need to work too that system, instead of blaming the official perhaps they should aim their ire at the geniuses who thought leaving the customs union and single market was a good idea in a bid to improve trade .
