It might be me but it still looks like a bit of a bend upwards in the middle of the frames, this may be due to not having an engine or other parts not yet in place at the moment.

If you looked inside the loco you could see the engine has been removed also the fuel tank and air tanks are also gone that may account for slightly bowed look.

Taken along time to update but work back in the way, well it never went away... A recent leap forward for the western corridor Foynes - Ballina   coal and oil train has been a rake of 10 IFM coal containers on Provincial models 20 chassis.  A simple loop and in coupler between most vehicles and Kaydee 19s on ends.  In the end a box of athern grab rails struck as a good starting point for the dropper  and a small split pin soldered to a plate and screwed to bottom of floor give a reliably produced loop. Aet just ahead of buffers and will push round 15" hornby setrack reverse curves.

A couple of pics with containers - modelled empty upon naked chassis concludes last couple of hours modelling.

All 10 shown for fun. The chassis all currently need the vac cylinder piston and crank drive adding to the cross shaft but if you gloss over it being unfitted  then they are done. Just one with a rock to sort out but others are happily 4 wheels in contact.

The question outstanding does anybody have examples of wagons on a train and any images of the containers, my searches on line, videos and books do well on the locos and wagons take second fiddle.  I guess wagons were in the 27301-27791 series  but open to education..every day is a school day after all.

Yes as far as I remember they used the 27301 series flats for the coal and oil

I think Loughrea had an electric storage heater, plugged in at night at the Terminus to charge it up.

Yes that is correct but I thinks CIE were trying a number of solutions to the problem and this was one of them and I dont think it was a successful one.

Like I said before....a shunter. This would be a godsend to anyone with limited space. A wagon pack with the shunter could see someone enjoying the Irish scene for little outlay and limited space needed.

The C /B201 were very versatile and did plenty of shunting in their day

    C233 & C234 were re-engined in 1965/65 with MD650 Maybach engines.

Some slight visual differences in the Maybach engined locos and the C and later B GM versions .

    No GM headlight

One of the side port hole windows covered in as illustrated in this picture from Ernies Railway Archive

Lots of variations in the C , B201 locos for any manufacturer considering doing it hint hint....................

I would appreciate any advice, (1) how to remove letter/numbers and

I recently changed IR007 to CIE007 while I did not renumber the loco I removed the letter. S and the IR logo both front and sides using a cotton bud and some T-cut scratch remover / paint restorer , do this slowly and gingerly perhaps starting on one of the side numbers .

  7. Just something to note when I was in my gricing infancy in the 1970s  I always remember the older drivers who would have started as steam men in their driving careers standing while driving the A &C classes unlike the GM’s the A had fold up seats like the seats in the cinema, so it was common to see drivers standing leaning against the folded up seat .
