  1. While JM Designs products are a little on the pricey side when one take's into account Tax and Carriage  the products are absolutely superb on quality and accuracy the brake vans are well worth the money all things considered .

  2. I see the IRRS Flickr site has been recently updated with another 4k of pictures bringing the total to about 19k images , the latest lot includes many rolling stock gems for the railway modeller including a green H van at Claremorris and brand new Palvans at Inchicore. All of the images have been scanned and restored by Ciaran Cooney over many months in his own time a very painstakingly slow task which as a modeller I for one am certainly appreciative of his efforts.

Yours truly even puts in an appearance in one image !

Cracking pick Mark. Any idea what was spray painted on the side? What are loads in front of the scrap container?

Beer kegs I think the scrap was used as a filler load you can make out another container of scrap further up the train the yellow paint was just numbers I think

A nice way to add significant interest to the train. I've wondered what the scrap containers looked like before. I don't think I've ever seen a good clear picture of one.

  5. Made up this 20ft container from a 20ft unpainted kit from C Rail and a scrap steel load cut to size from Ten Commandments models , added CIE decals . These 20’ containers were a regular on the Dublin -Cork liners bound for Irish steel at Haulbowline .

  6. The artist Patrick Scott was working for Michael Scott(no relation ) the architect of Scott Tallon Walker Architects, Michael Scott designed many Irish buildings including Busaras , Patrick Scott did all of the mosaics in that building . He was also later given the task of designing a new livery for CIE, part of the brief was to bring some uniformity and a streamlined look to the rolling stock which was all different shapes and sizes, so by  using lines running the length of the train that gave a streamlined look white at the top black in the centre and brown /burnt clay at the bottom and yes part of the inspiration was his cat 'Miss Mouse'  and her calico colouring of orange, black and white.

Thanks Fran, that is welcome news. Will it be possible for existing customers who own 42ft wagons to buy accessory packs 'to eliminate squeaking and improve running and rolling resistance' such as brass bearings and coupling mechanisms to retro fit into the existing 42ft container flat wagons?

They might do a trade in low mileage never race rallied or crashed I promise
