  1. Here's a pair of 141's double heading a pair of cravens and steam generating van in 2004
  2. That might be the way for me to go. Saves a lot of space too. The Walthers one looks the best from the pics I think. I know they used these in Dublin port in the last few years as well as RTG's (rubber tire gantry) cranes, but did they use reach stackers in Ireland in the late 80's early 90's? That's the era for my layout. Usually the vertical lift type are older and reach/telescopic type are newer. I think the Walthers one would be more realistic for that time period?
  3. While on the subject of container lifting, anyone know where you can get a decent OO gauge reach stacker? Either forklift or teleporter type?
  4. I believe the speaker is already incorporated into the design, you'll only need a sound chip. That's what I've been told anyway. It's located under the roof grill.
  5. Great video there skinner75. Fascinating stuff! I love work, I could watch it all day lol
  6. Marks models has a shop in Newcastle? On the Naas rd?
  7. I didn't know Dave sells new stuff, I thought he just dealt in quality used stuff?...PM me about an 071 if you want Dave
  8. That would be great, I was thinking a trip to downpatrick would be well worth a visit. Hopefully they'll have 146 or the A class running. Wonder if anyone else is interested? Dave, I'll be staying in Naas. But as I said I'll have the auld ones car. I'll make a stop in Newry and drop off some rolling stock for the big fella to weather too. I'll surely drop into the Belfast model shop while I'm up that way too. Stick a deposite on a 071!!!
  9. For sure Anto! I was thinking I might bring my Cravens with me in the hopes you might get a chance to give them a light whack of your infamous weathering stick! Unfortunately I'll most likely be rolling up in my moms "Mitsubishi disappointment" I believe they're called. Lol.
  10. I'll have use of a car I meant to say
  11. Hey guys, I grew up in Ireland and moved to the USA three years ago. While over here I got in Irish model trains, joined this forum and haven't looked back since! Anyway, I'm coming home for a visit from dec 28th - jan 9 and I'm wondering what might be worth taking a look at or if there are any event organized during that time frame. Also if anyone might be interest in meeting up for something train related ? I will have use of a Fer if I can keep it on the right side of the road!
  12. Is there a release date given for any IR livery 071's yet? Or will it just depend on how sales of the previously released models go?
  13. Thanks for the clarification lads
  14. Right, I stand corrected. Although, did the air cons not come later?
  15. Are they not Black and Tan MKII's in that video I just posted @ 1:39?
  16. Can you send one to USA? If so, I'll take one. It'll look great over my layout!
  17. Ye, I was thinking about getting one, but I didn't know if they really worked. That's deadly, cleaning all the track is such a hassle! That looks like a fun easy way to do it! How does it work?
  18. I've found that most places outside of Ireland are punctual.
  19. Well I checked the circuit board in the worst effected 141 and everything seemed to be fine so I ran them all again. I noticed then that certain parts of the track were effecting every engine, so it had to be the track. I went over the track again with cleaning fluid for a second time and this greatly improved it. I couldn't see any residue on the track with the naked eye, but I could see black stains on the cotton buds so there was obviously still some grime there. I guess I better not leave it so long between running times again! Thanks again for your input guys. Thankfully it was an easy fix!
  20. I've been on that ICE train before, never noticed your man though! I will say this about it. The train was due to leave Frankfurt at 11:00am for Hamburg. I keep looking at the platform for the train to arrive. Eventually it gets to be 10:55am and the train arrives at the end terminal platform everybody gets off and on and the train leaves exactly on time! That was my first intercity train experience like that! God bless German efficiency!
  21. That's a model of an American bridge on the Ohio river he says. I've seen many bridges on the Ohio river and throughout the US that look like that one. Your best bet is check the US eBay, but be sure to check that they'll ship internationally for you. Also check US online model train supplier websites, they may ship outside the US for you. They will be in HO scale, but the difference won't really be noticeable on a OO layout. If you want one just like that one your going to have to get one from America I think.
