Speaking of alternatives to Hattons, does anyone on here and based in the Republic use Rails? Have you had any problems with deliveries to the Republic?

    Shop local :)

If you can’t find what you need then Rails shopping to ireland works fine. They don’t charge VAT and you pay an post on arrival in the usual way these days.

@WRENNEIRE Dave are these sort of longer term plans after the small GMs or are we talking about 201s and mkIIIs going to production this year already? It's an ambitious list of stuff to get out.

No offence to anyone, but based on factory schedules and shipping, etc, and the current stages of projects, stuff thats not designed yet / tooled would be at least 24 months away at the soonest, being realistic.

Hi I have been trying to contact Hatton's regarding the CIE coaches to confirm my pre-order, but as others have also tried but have got no were I was just wondering what the latest is on these coaches, it may well be that I have missed out on them.

    Regards

    Colin Rainsbury

The forthcoming batch of Genesis coaches (including the irish ones) are underway at the factory and will be delivered. You should be able to log into the hattons website still and check your preorders. Exactly how or who delivers them is subject to change but they will come.

That article is a few years old

Quite. Hattons did £11m last year. Something like that newspaper report wouldn’t cause any concern.

  5. To be fair to hattons they’re shutting down with great care and respect and everyone looked after. More than can be said of many companies when they get into trouble or see it coming.

Yes I arrange the shipping for Paddy, so probably know better than anyone where everything is! The MK2Ds should be here late this week/early next week..

141/181s, it will be tight if they are ready before Chinese new year in early February, but we should see them by Easter I would imagine

Be good to know how much they are if they are that close! 😃

My point exactly. There is no information at all being given out. At least come out and tell us if there is going to be a delay. This attitude of "just wait for us indefinitely" is not on. Maybe @BosKonay could shed some light, but it doesn't sound like it.

I’d love to but at the moment we don’t have a timeline or even a confirmed price.

  8. In terms of delivery, 2024 is scheduled to see the following delivered to customers, in no particular order:

    • ICR Sets
    • Bulleid Range (Flats, opens, perhaps some more)
    • NIR Mk2b packs
    • IRM Mk2c Packs
    • Park Royals
    • Murphy Models Mk2ds
    • [Probably] Murphy Models 141/181 rerun (minimal details on the timeline just yet)

Beyond that into 2025, 26, there are four Diesel Projects, Two steam, Three coach, four wagon / freight stock and some accessory projects 'actively' underway as well as some overlapping Accurascale ranges that will feature IRM elements, all of which will be revealed once they have reached an advanced point (around about when Engineering samples / prototypes (*EP's) are in hand during 2024.

Twelve months ago you said this;-

" I can promise several things next year, including steam,"

You didn't keep that promise, that's what I mean by disappointment.

Fair comment however we also changed to a model of launching things much later in the development cycle to avoid disappointment over timelines and delays. We have spent more in the last 18 months on IRM tools than we have since we started 9 years ago. But no ‘promises’ will be made, froth frothed or hints alluded to in future until we are ready. It seems we’re damned if we do and if we don’t :)

Please no more promises with the ensuing disappointment. Tell us when you are actually doing something and stop alluding to what might be.

Telling you something is ‘probable’ is neither a promise nor any source of ‘disappointment’ tho how anything IRM produces could disappoint intrigues me. When we’re ready to deliver something we will announce it and then we will deliver it. We’ve never announced anything that’s not then been delivered.

It depends on wither you want sound or not. If not sound just motor DCC decoders than €20 for a basic Lenz decoder is more than enough. No need for ridiculous €35. If you want sound then your two choices are ESU LokSound5 projects from the likes of (http://www.wheeltappersdccsounds.co.uk/styled-5/index.html) or Zimo from Mr Sound Guy (website currently offline). Both of these have sound projects for nearly all the Irish diesel locos. I've equipped my MM 141/181/121/071/201 fleet with ESU projects designed by WheelTappers. I tried but dislike the generic vanilla projects designed by ESU themselves for Murphy Models and IRM, they were designed by people sitting at desks using library recordings of mainly US locos with now knowledge of how Irish Diesel loco's were operated and how they actually sounded. For me sound is half the equation, how these project drive prototypicaly is just as important. Sadly the generic vanilla ESU projects lack coasting and long distance braking like the real thing, so they cannot be driven as a real loco would have been. Personally I enjoy the challenge of bringing a model loco to notch 0 and applying brakes at the right time to bring a train to a halt a mile or two later correctly at the right place on a platform or in front of a stop signal. Shoving throttle to speed step 0 and the mode train stopping abruptly using only 18 inches of track is toy town and boringly unrealistic. Driving model trains like real trains is the fun.

Noel the ESU developed programmes were built by us from recordings made by us with ESU sound engineers onsite and developed and tweaked by us with the ESU team. They are also packed with features and functionality that are bespoke to the models.

    Uffff!

Major punch in the ribs for iRM and Paddy Murphy there, knocking their prices and their quality in one fell swoop!

Try Brian Collins, RB Models, Marks Models, Rails of Sheffield, and obviously IRM themselves for LokPilots.

I'm sure that @BosKonay can advise us as to whether IRM will be offering more LokPilots for the A Class or not. I'd say the likelihood is yes, but that's only speculation on my part.

We will of course, as well as a new run of A’s as well as a whole list of powered and unpowered models to come. We might even let Noel buy one 🤪

Hey! BosKonay  is that called cross subsidization?  or cross fertilization? Keep raising the bar 'cos I like the Irish side of things.

Bye the bye, your guys on the Acurascale stand were very closed mouth about IRM announcements. Even under severe questioning! What torture were you guys threatening !   😎

Fran keeps a Hurley under the counter :)

Interesting comment from Fran when he said that the Irish oo gauge market is barely viable, I hope it stays viable enough to keep us fed, can't be easy though! 🤞

To be honest IRM has been loss making since day 1 lol.
