  1. Thanks, & if you are talking about the 80 DVT, yes it is.
  2. The two refurbished bogies being unloaded to go under a coach being refurbished ^ The coach being refurbished ^ Recently power washed bogies being loaded for refurbishment ^ Bogie frame being refurbished ^ Wheels waiting to be pressed off the axels, the wheels will the be scrapped along with the brake disks & pads^ The bogie frame I worked on during my W/E their ^ Parts I had to clean^ All clean!^ I also had to clean these. You know air blast sound on the DD sitting in a station? Yeah. Well that is this doing their job, their job is to keep the coach body level to a certain point, so if there is more weight on one side, pushing the body down by a couple of MM, these will put more air in the air bag, raising the body back to level, or release air from the other bags, making the train level^. Nuts & bolts on top of the frame ^. Intresting enough, very little of the original bogies are kept, the rest are scrapped.
  3. It's not the rolling stock, the 201s & DeDietrich are well captable of doing over 100mph, but just havnt able to on the Northern line. It's the time tabling, the Enterprise never used to stop at Drogheda, Portadown or Lisburn. If it wasn't for the fact the train stops in every town it comes across, it would get to Dublin far more quicker, because when your stopping a 70-90mph train, you need to slow down in advance, then when your the station, it takes three ministers to get people off, get people on, close the doors, do your checks & depart. Already, that's 12mins just for Drogheda, Dundalk, Lisburn & Portadown. The last time I traveled on the Dublin/Belfast line, there was many of speed restrictions in place (this was about a week or two after 9002 was lunched back into service), these where due to track works to help improve the speed of the service. I think if you explained to a passenger why the limit is in place, they would appreciate it, I would prefer a couple of weeks of slowness for a couple of years of high speediness. Now on to that ever long lasting argument which has lead to many fall outs & hatered to the DD stock.... The refurbishment program. What many people don't know about the Enterprise arrgrement is, IÉ take care of the Enterprising locomotives while NIR look after the coaching stock, so ideally, Inchicore done their part (easy, four(?) locomotives to refurbish) compared to what NIR get which is, four genny vans, four driving trailers which all need new equipment & 24 passenger coaches which also all need new equipment, completely refurbished bogies (yes, I know your shock, they aren't just painted). NIR's network & fleet isn't as big as IÉ's, meaning NIR don't require as many people working in their main depots, which isn't ideal when it comes to a major refurbishment like this, where all the coaches are completely stripped back & mainly rebuilt, electronics ripped out & new ones put in & the gennys complete refurbished too. So ideally, it would of been fair for IÉ to refurbish at least one of their sets, rather that, which in this case would be 9003, because 9001 was started before months after 9002 on the inside part. Any ways, here's some photos of the bogie refurbishment, which was agreed between me & the DeDietrich team NIR, not to be uploaded to any forum or social media until the set was released into service, this set being 9002.
  4. They where on tests on the northern line, but only got up to Dundalk (I think) & not a word said since. There was plans to put on 22000's with the DeDietrichs, because of their speed, comfort & already in use on the northern line because of having correct IÉ & NIR equipment. Tho, trying to imagine the 22000 in the new Enterprise livery is puzzling.
  5. I've just noticed the wee thing at the bottom of the forums home page saying it's someone's birthday..... Happy birthday to you Happy birthday to you Happy birthday dear Warbonnet Happy birthday to you! Have a fabulous day!
  6. Fantastic! Very interesting story Jhb171achill, would you remember the colour of the ticket? Little question, was the late 1990's handheld machines electronic?
  7. Good evening/morning, I've been Googling about for photographs of not so modern handheld ticket machines which could of been used on IÉ or NIR, tho, haven't been so lucky. The reason behind this is because I like handheld ticket machines, they have always had a wee interest spark in me (because I'm wired like that). If any of you kind ladies or gentlemen have any photographs to share of the pre 2005 machines, could you post here please?
  8. Marks Models in Dublin & Gismo in Belfast, I'm looking for model shops in NI which sell Oxford Diecast stuff, in particular, buses, as Gismo only do the stobart bus if anyone can help?
  9. Thanks Tony, that'll come in really useful when I go to get inside the coach to detail it & spraying it.
  10. I'll be popping round to the depot to get photos of 612's details tomorrow, then up in to Belfast to get the models & while their, hopefully get some decent detailed photos of the goldliner i6 interior & exterior. Made this for a decal for the goldliners door this evening.... Just some adjustments on the onboard part then off to the printer.... Once the model is painted of course
  11. Two opt are town service buses (both NC) A hell of a lot ULB & Cairnshill P&R Wright Scania low floors A hell of a lot ULB & Cairnshill P&R Wright Volvo double deckers Some Wright Volvo school run buses One Scania Irizar i4 who is the most detested bus in the yard because of having a slow door, a bad gear box & a annoying hand brake... 612 One ford transit SEELB school bus One Mercedes Benz Sprinter SEELB school bus & the occasional Metro (on lend to ULB) or Goldliner (covering a broken bus)visitor Hope that helps. Oh & one man cleans every bus from 0700-2000 (Not me!)
  12. I live local to a bus sub-depot which houses ULB 612 (FZ 9612) & a relative who is a bus driver is based their too. 612 only operates until 1600 in the evening from early morning. So sources are available to me Tho, 612 is a i4 & the above is a PB, the difference between a PB & i6 is very little, one of which includes the silver band on the first Window after the door / drivers cab.
  13. I hope to get some Oxford die cast scania coaches & bring them from factory standard to really detailed ulsterbus & goldliner coaches.... My question is, is possible to get inside the coach to add people & details. Or is it small rivet? Note: The display on the #ULB coach is (from front to back), IrishRailwayModeller, I'RailwayModeller, IRM
  14. If your talking about 458, unfortunately not, as she's in a refurbishment program, if your talking about ITG's A39r, I don't know. 1400 being the first departure, 1700 being last departure. DCDR has the right to cancel, suspend & or delay any service with out notice
  15. Hello! This thread is to keep you updated on what is happening & planned public events at the Downpatrick & County Down Railway & The Irish Traction Group, Downpatrick based. News: I'm sure you have already heard about A39® in her new (amazing) livery, which was painted by one man (at most of the time). Next Public Event: The next public event at DCDR will be the Mince Pie Trains, which is (I think at a tradition) a diesel hauled train day, so, if you like heritage diesel trains & mince pies, this will be a fantastic day out for you. This will take place on January 2nd, 2016 For details, see downrail.co.uk or Facebook.com/downrail
  16. Ah damn, what did I start!? Fantastic work!
  17. Was only trying be polite & not offend as I do not know if the person in question (or even a robot) is a Madam or a Sir, but I'm glad to hear that I have made your Christmas Craven1508, I think it'll take more than a bit of tinkering, as the model is smaller than your usual HO/OO stuff, plus the fact the bogies on it don't swing at all, in fact the only things that do move is the couplers & the wheels that turn, but, if your going tinker it, why not the extra mile & hack it so the middle has its own carriage like the ones IRL, I'm sure you could do this cheaply by buying another two (three in total) & use the couplers from the spares, & any left over wheels, you could use on a 1/76 road digger to turn it into a RRV. Did I mention that Siku make a even smaller version of this model with same size of couplers in a red park & ride livery? No? Well, just as well I just did ^it may come in handy.
  18. Ah, thank you Mr/Mrs BosKonay, just couldn't get it to work earlier. Indeed, it's not bad looking at all (I grabed one for the price shown)
  19. Spotted these in Symths toys store today while looking around for a Christmas present. The model it's self is a great build & high quality, tho, because it is a German built train by Siku, the unit is a German train in the Luas tram livery. I think it fits TT gauge track. It is Siku product No. 1646 "Nahverkehrszug/Local train/ Train de banlieue" See Siku.de for more information Unfortunately the images won't load.
  20. The all new new Hornby Select 2016 controller
  21. No, this 15inch gauge railcar looks much nicer. The one at QCR was a mistake which should of never happened. This railcar operated a branch line & when first introduced, was known as the silver jubilee set.
  22. Some nice smaller railcar here.... Rather good looking if you ask me http://homepage.ntlworld.com/david.enefer/cclr/dmu.htm
  23. No problem, I can not wait to see your newer layout with all these!
  24. It's a type of fuel, more friendly than petroleum. It is used to power lawnmowers, trains, planes, cars, boats, helicopters, etc. Etc. It's also a nickname for locomotives powered by this type of fuel.
