  1. On two out of the eight 141/181s that I've been associated with, we needed to shave a tiny bit off to ensure clearance when the plate was fitted, the other six were OK*. * or might just not have had the plates fitted...
  2. That is my recollection of what I heard, but I did need to hear confirmation from someone else. I think I saw it in a video discussion.
  3. Smuggling migrants from Mullingar to Port Laoise. I did see a discussion about it somewhere a few weeks ago, but I can't remember the outcome, hopefully somebody else was paying more attention.
  4. They were going to use it to take the petty cash down to the bank.

    Warley

Is that the world's smallest autocue being held up there ? Damned good eyes needed for that...

    Warley

I've done Warley once, about six years ago - I won some tickets and felt obliged to use them. By the end of the day, I felt that I might have actually been on a Marine Commando selection course. I resolved that, should I ever have to go again, then I would borrow a mobility scooter, thus having ready access to seating and a reasonably effective battering ram.
  7. This is radio, so it should be available to all. https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m00018t1
  8. You could do one in Black'n'Tan - you would shift a few.
  9. Paint over the points and a plug'n'socket transfer..?
  10. Stole the side door off a van by me last week - nothing else, just the door.
  11. There was a bit of chat here -
  12. A polarising filter can reduce the reflections a bit - or a lot, if the circumstances are right. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polarizing_filter_(photography) When I mentioned to a staff member at Stafford station that the Arrivals and Departures screens were almost impossible to read because of reflected sunlight, his answer was "It's not our light"...
  13. They say that your deepest memories often involve scents. A friend of mine is involved in the perfume industry and I once got involved in assessing various unisex concoctions. One of them received several similar verdicts along the lines of "damp shed" - having seen that marvellous grounded van above, I can smell it again now...
  14. There can't be many lower than this. Contains a bridge strike by a cyclist!
  15. They seem have have discovered an error in manufacturing which has prompted them to recall this product and offer a substitute shortly.
  16. You can also have 'edge-lighting' issues around the windows - experimentation is the key to success.
  17. The yellow 'has it been nudged?' marks on the rails are worthy of note.
  18. Always worth a trial run to see if any light will bleed though the roof or sides. I've found 'silver' paint to be fairly leakproof.
  19. Often a greater problem, which it will also greatly reduce, is splash from the soil at the base - a great rot-promoter. And you can let The Authorities know that you have made such great efforts to collect rainwater for the plants in their beloved garden....
  20. They often have a tendency to go off the rails, particularly after a period of silence.
  21. Specifically, does the 'Off' switch still work?
  22. Ah, right, I was actually wondering if there were screws right up at the top end of the tubes, they're often black and barely visible. It would seem that @murrayec could be right... Another possibility would have been screws hidden by the bogies, but that's excluded by his pictures, too. Sometimes, a bit of gentle pulling about can reveal where the splits are and you may still be able to part them - but there is always an element of risk. Lima did, at times, mould the roof and windows in one clear piece, then painted the roof section.
