I remember them going for about £25.00 at the time Colin R

Right then, not so good news having asked Kirlty about these locos, but it appears that the method used by Tony does not allow him to mass produce them, so I think if we are going to get them in kit form, I need to search out all the possible drawing's I can find and then ask Allen what he thinks? Colin

I have made contact with Kirley who is in contact with Tony Ragg, they are going to have a chat about this over the weekend so you all have time to think about whether obtaining the etches now is something you guys want. If it does go ahead I don't expect them to be repeated. Finding the casting and other bits may take a while, but I am sure there are enough folk in this group to tell us where such items can be purchased

A 3d printed 800 class for 00 (and a WLWR goods loco)
Colin R replied to Killian Keane's topic in Irish Models
Hi Killian It would be very hard not to use the SSM kit, but I would suggest that as the model railway world moves on to 3D printing, it just goes to show what is possible. I have seen some really fantastic composite kits which have brass detail overlays and white metal / lost wax fittings on a 3D print body. I think it was the late Roy Link who tested the waters with that concept. Also we should not forget that at the time 3D printing was not that good compared today as better ployimers etc become available better details can be added. It then becomes the area of the skilled painter to do justice to the print. Please continue to produce these loco shells they are increadible Colin -

That looks really nice do we know if it would run on 21 mm gauge? -
Hi Horsetan I have said that there may be up to half a dozen people who might be interested, I am thinking that he may not want to do them unless he can cover the cost of the etching process. it would be a lot cheaper to say have half a dozen done that just a one-off

Are the above on this list or does someone know them that they could ask? Colin Rainsbury

I still think that if a 4mm scale Sligo tank was ever made, it would go down a storm. For my sins, I have a 4mm LSWR Adams Radia tank in bits that one day will get finished. The only iffy point is the wheelbase. Since the wheels are so close together, I might have to add 0.5mm to get them all to fit under the converted body shell. I'm glad I could help. I'm sorry about the wallet taking a knock. But I do wonder just how many kits like this stay in the cupboard stash for years and never get made.

Is it something as simple as the pick ups aren't making?

Hi anyone want one of these in 7 mm scale? I am not the seller by the way https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/235808519157?_skw=great+central+model+railway+kits&itmmeta=01JBD8EKYNG2EKC1EJTYK1BV7P&hash=item36e74873f5:g:7M4AAOSwMqxnIUBr&itmprp=enc%3AAQAJAAABAHoV3kP08IDx%2BKZ9MfhVJKmAF4634%2F1selY6xelrH9uczjbcz5HrV2TKRwUFRRQaQDh8jaJV24MNymWmfMPD8oEl26a8JdyLF4AE%2FTQhziEmLTWpo3dCpCT6PR0Ea9q0FYHWQzCLBfc3w8Uf6y9WpRjbg0qm%2FdrTP5UZtu3yaTQduoAbaBPdmKpawJIyJaNx%2FJTj%2FBzD5wxiCKxPfOwsQOfjn8tf6B4RLZY8njog0LhNVAgqFpLyCSLNT2bf4bM75cLSmm%2BNWoBvf4Kw%2BISEP1b7JTfyVQ%2F9uRl0WJ%2BQQZVr%2FJ2viD31kLkYeoiNemDhJnU1pc1iDIGZpFKlwr5RJzg%3D|tkp%3ABk9SR8K_uqjbZA

Yes I have the same problem, except that the station I am hoping to model lost its tracks in the 1950s I think and have only recently been put back in the last ten years or so at Downpatrick, it could be a bumpy ride
-
Well I was only going to do one but as they say, you can separate a fool from his money so that is one in the maroon, one in the early blue livery and one in the later blue versions, better start saving again from the pension pot. If I had the money I would buy a load of them seeing what happens to the A class locos
-
Well, I hope that I have pre-ordered a Bo Bo Hunslet, never expected that one, my one is in Maroon as built, but you know the Blue does not look to bad either.
-
If it is going to be a steam loco you must ask yourself what is going to be the most popular loco that most people will want I would suggest something in blue such as 'Merlin'
-
I know this will not help matters, but as Fran has said, something like this is hopefully a one-off. One side of this order has indicated that Hattons hit the jackpot by doing these coaches. Of course, the downside is that we all know what happens when one of the big boys shuts up shop. I think the model railway trade has learned a big lesson from this, one being that there is still a demand for model railways and if this were to happen again I am sure they would not do as many liveries as has been done with these coaches all at one time. As the old saying goes Keep the faith guys, you will get them.
-
I would like to think that before too long someone might decide to do a second run of these unless of course, the likes of Hornby make us all go to TT:120 before that happens.
-
HI jhb. if you can wait awhile I have been told that some orders have been or are being cancelled not sure what the reason is or which models they are as yet. Also, I have been told that Rails may have had a few back due to damage. Again it is too early to find out exactly what the story is about or if those so affected have been compensated. Considering just how many have been shipped in this one consignment and having a few damaged models may just be acceptable

it is no wonder that it is taking a lot longer to get everything sent out

Rapido Launch "Evolution" Range of 48 Foot Generic Bogie Coaches
Colin R replied to DJ Dangerous's topic in News
Talking of Tim Cramer is he still with us? Someone on here (sorry I forget who) sent me a contact address of sorts which I wish I had followed up on, I have sadly lost the details. But it would be good to find out what other stuff Tim might have, which hasn't been published so far. Colin R -

Well if that happens wait till the 009 modellers get their hands on them -
Not only Irish, the trouble is that some of these smaller box shifters have the money upfront to buy in bulk what it needs is a modellers co-op to be able to do the same thing and then share them out afterwards
