  1. Bogies are the only tricky bit but it still went together in an evening or two. Spent nearly as long building it as cutting the seat kits to fit in. Looking at Popeye's thread, he says he replaced the ends to be flat ends
  2. They do indeed, to quote a certain show, here's one I prepared earlier:
  3. Des does them if you ask, there was post on this forum, someone did some 6 wheelers in GSR colours (might have been Popeye's bench) and said Des supplied them, that's how I came aware of them
  4. Ease of availability of transfers always encourages experimentation into other railways. My steam era interests are mainly shades of green, mainly because I can order the right lining and snails off Steve from Railtec. I have experimented with some GSR transfers I got off SSM and I would love to have some GSWR, MGWR and other liveries about a la the RPSI heritage rake in days gone by but the main block is lack of decals. Less barriers to Irish modelling the better imo.
  5. Yup, Humbrol and Railtec. Small fleet still sitting in various stages of repaints, some just needing transfers to others still in primer. Big push atm to clear my workbench of WIP (as according to my notes, these coaches repaints started Jan 1st 2020!)
  6. Another two coaches finished and my steam era carriage fleet continues to build up.
  7. Having cycled the old line last year, the viaducts on the line were something else. Class a scenery and begging to be included in a layout
  8. Oh interesting little thing has appeared on the site.
  9. I'm going to guess its a coach of some kind, maybe a Park Royal or Laiminate.
  10. Hornby LMS Railroad coaches look Bredin esque to cover the 2ft rule.
  11. A rare evening to myself saw me trying to clear my workbench backlog and so the first subjects I came across was a Pullman and a wannabe Bredin sitting in GSR maroon for over a year awaiting some of Des' wonderful decals. Little bit of work and vollia, two less models on the to-do list.

    Sorry, meant Stevie's Palvans

They look great. Are they your own 3D print or is someone selling them?
  14. Another one that can attest to poor customer service from DC kits, ordered some insulated Bell containers, received some bog standard 20ft Bells, refused to respond to my emails asking for a swap for the goods I'd actually ordered. Lesson learnt.
  15. JM have some RTR ones available here: https://jmdesignmodelrailways.com/products/cie-20t-goods-brake-23543 And @leslie10646 of Provincial Wagons does a GSWR and GNR one
  16. A brief and quick cameo of some tins, and like all good Christmas tins, whisked off to be kept until the big day!
  17. The wind down towards Christmas and no Dublin Santas meant I had some time to bring out the modelling workbench and finish off some stalled projects, mainly this one: Kitbash and motorisation of a Kirbi RRV kit and strach build of one of its trailers. Need to fashion up some form of couplings between the two. Also started on two of Leslie's brown vans.
  18. Dunno about Ashtown but being involved with Merrion Gates, its a PITA developing a working solution. Hope the public like it when it goes to public consultation in the new year.
  19. DART West plans are for full electrifiction and closure of the level crossings along the route along with the remodelling of Connolly, its approach and Docklands station https://www.dartplus.ie/en-ie/projects/dart-west
  20. Likewise, Des was quite sound to me too, knocked up some GSR crests and lining transfers for me without any fuss.
  21. As one of those so called over priced consulants, I feel like I must defend certain aspects of my job (especially considering I'm in rail!) Consulants will only report on what the client wants. Sometimes reports will come out and to the lay person or anyone with passing knowledge in the subject will go, "Hang on, you've not mentioned X, Y or Z!" When in reality, X, Y and Z were mentioned in a draft version of the report but their inclusion didn't back up the aim of the report that the client wanted or political reasoning caused them to be cut. Some good examples would be some of the choices for DART + projects, such as no new stations in South West and I'm sure the public will say the same about Coastal when it goes live in the New Year. Reports conflicting with one another. One report might come up with a lovely concept design for Rosslare but another might not even mention it. It again comes down to the purpose of the report and what crititiea meant to be used. I've had logical designs thrown out in the MCA process for simpler in concept designs but ones somewhat unworkable in practice and are going to be mired in derogation and plenty of communication from my friends in Blackrock. More often then not, the purpose of these reports is something to try and draw blood from the stone that is the department of finance for funding for some expansion. As someone who has and is working on Irish Rail civil projects, a massive constraint the company has is lack of funding, which leads to half arsed solutions to a problem that could be solved with a bigger cheque.
  22. Yeah I always imerse my rattlers in a saucepan of warm water before a paint job, makes for a world of difference.
