  6. [Darts were forced out of service this morning by recession theft – someone stole lengths of the rail system’s overhead cable to sell for scrap metal. how could they remove the cables -arent they electrofied all the time?

  9. steve- some great suggestions! the boarded up windows is one i never thought of..and could be done easily-though in reality i have never seen it down here. fire damaged stock does tend to light up my emagination!!!(couldnt help that one!). the grafetti looks the dogs- will definately order some. great pics by the way and thanks for the reply! josefstadt-the rubbish under the stock is one i would never thougt of...thanks! garreth, that comment about the scrap yard in mullingar will be a reality on my proposed layout shortly. it seems like yesterday when the yard was in full swing cutting up a rake of E class shunters and railcars! if only i had a camera back then!

  17. richie, there is no mention anywhere of the edition, on the inner jacket is first published in 1997, and dedicated to Sam 1976-96. got in in the uk on ebay. must check out the d&ser book!

  20. got a copy today of RAILWAYS OF IRELAND PAST AND PRESENT DUBLIN-and lads, its a fantasiic look back at the black and tan era. the only drawback is that all the pics are not in colour. but having said that, the pics are outstanding! it has all classes of locos, shulzers, shunters, 141's, railcars, darts and steamers. there is a great chapter on the north wall and another on inchicore.... bliss! fair play to hc baker.
