jhb171achill
Spotted from the Waterford greenway today, the unmistakeable profile of two Cork & Macroom Direct Railway coaches. I suspect these are the only items of anything left from this railway line.
jhb171achill
Original CIE green paintwork inside the (unrestored) jacks at the old Kilmacthomas station.

It’s too bad the owner has tried to flog these on for mad prices, I just don’t understand how I missed them when I went in the greenway! in a world where I had unlimited funds. these two would be behind no.90 on the DCDR. But these will most likely be left there forever. Maybe getting these knackered coach bodies to cork is within reason
jhb171achill
Looking even from a distance I reckon that even the better of the two is way beyond redemption. Pity; immensely historically important at this stage.

We await the rather specialist volume that this picture will, no doubt, form an essential part of - to be written at your convenience, of course. minister_for_hardship
Most of the windows are smashed, the side has collapsed out of the near side one (butchering by the owner having weakened it) and theres scorch damage from a fire someone set in the space between the two. Like so many things in this country they'll end up destroyed through greed and ignorance. "A stand-up tour of Irish railway toilets" It’s with the printers, Broithe! Chapter 1 is “The night I was locked in the jax in Tooban Junction with an antelope…..”

I don’t trust them….especially when I’ve no mint sauce.
