Anyone remember Mullen’s Bookshop?

On Royal Avenue in Belfast.  It had a very comprehensive railway book section.

We were regulars. Jim Crozier, one of the senior staff, was a huge enthusiast. His brother Sid built a fantastic 3.5” live steam GNRI SG3.

Again most definitely. It was always a ‘must visit’ on trips into the city centre and a lot of my early railway book purchases were made in this wonderful shop which always had a nice atmosphere with very friendly staff.  The railway section, as far as I remember was along the left-hand wall about halfway down the shop.

Another ‘must visit’ was The Modeller’s Nook when it was run by Joe Barlow who is thankfully still very much active, and usually has a stand at local exhibitions.

Ah yes, there are two or three books "above my head" as I sit here -  on the book shelves - which came from there. Certainly my original GNR book and Ahrons. However, very few Irish books had been published by February 1967 when I went into weeping exile.

That brings me back. Jim was an absolute gentleman, always extremely courteous and helpful.
