Warbonnet Posted March 19, 2013 Posted March 19, 2013 My new Dapol Western showed up this morning. This was a model made with the feedback from the members from RMWeb as well as some experts in these complex locos to get the first truly accurate Class 52. Anyway, all I can say is Wow! She's an absolute beauty. Fit and finish superb, detail excellent. I can't wait to see how she performs. I will take some proper pictures of her later this week when I get time (along with a nice orange 071 hopefully!) but here's a few teaser (terrible) pics... Box porn Detail parts to fit, including name and number plates and headcodes. Quote
Flying Scotsman 4472 Posted March 19, 2013 Posted March 19, 2013 Stunning just stunning I'm thinking I might be tempted to get one myself Fran and not a bad price in Hattons either are the detail pipes fitted at the factory Quote
Warbonnet Posted March 19, 2013 Author Posted March 19, 2013 They sure are Anthony, she's straight out of the box. There's a rake of lifting rings to fit to the roof though which should be fun! I have a maroon one on order too. I'd say you'll be able to pick up a Heljan one cheap on eBay now. I have one and while the roof front is a bit wrong they're excellent runners. I won't be parting with mine. Dapol one is a good price for what you get though. All wheel drive too! Quote
heirflick Posted March 19, 2013 Posted March 19, 2013 a beautiful machine fran...i suppose she is to go on trials on brens layout soon? Quote
RedRich Posted March 19, 2013 Posted March 19, 2013 It's great to see that the model has turned out so well. As you said yourself Fran there was a lot of involvement from RMweb members some of who drove the real thing. Dapol and Dave Jones deserve huge credit for the way that they involved people from the cad stage of manufacture to the end. First feature of any model is does it match the real thing in looks and accuracy, and this model does. A truly amazing model Fran, and I know you have been after this for a good while. I can't wait to see more photos and please take some shots of the 071. I'll be waiting for the last batch myself. I am interested to see how well the IR liveried model will match it's smaller 141 brethren in the color department. That's three top BR models that you have had in the last few months Class 85, Midland Pullman, and the Western. Great stuff I can't wait to see the MK11 F's behind those locos when they are released. I don't think I'd be bothered with the Heljan one Fran I've been thinking about the Dapol for a while now in either the BR blue like yours or the maroon more than likely the blue and then weather her with faded/bleached paint work etc. Quote

RedRich Posted March 19, 2013 Posted March 19, 2013 Fran how do the springs look on the bogies when seen up close. I believe Ultrascale are already working on a conversion wheelset set for the model. Rich, Quote

Yep they have made up some and will go into production once sufficient orders come in. Which reminds me I'd like some for my ViTrains locos! Quote
