irishmail Posted November 2 Posted November 2 Just tried a 'virtual' order, however they don't seem to deduct the UK VAT so in addition to that you will be paying an extra 23% plus the courier handling fees! 1 2 Quote
Newtoncork Posted November 2 Posted November 2 Had the same problem with Dapol. Got stung for lots of VAT and import duties. Should have gone to German sites. 1 Quote
irishmail Posted November 2 Posted November 2 Most of my UK orders I get sent to Parcel Motel in Belcoo now. Quote
murphaph Posted November 2 Posted November 2 They claim they deliver duty unpaid (which would imply no UK VAT is applied): https://www.oxforddiecast.co.uk/pages/Eu-Customs-Information I'd be majorly peeved if they charged UK VAT! 1 1 1 Quote
Fowler4f Posted November 2 Author Posted November 2 Only trying to help. That’s what they say on their website. Take it, or Leave it ! 2 Quote
BosKonay Posted November 2 Posted November 2 We are all saying the same. They ship with no vat or duty paid from the website and you then pay that when import. Quote

As far as I understand it when getting things delivered to Rep. of Ireland you either buy from within the EU (like a German site) and pay EU VAT. Or you buy from a UK site and pay no UK VAT but do pay Irish EU VAT plus a An Post handling charge. All charges I paid to An Post to receive in Cork. Customs Value: Import Duty: Excise Duty: VAT: An Post Fee: Total paid: Date paid: € 36.02 € 0.00 € 0.00 € 8.26 € 4.95 € 13.21 20/10/2024 Edited November 4 by raymurph 1 Quote
BosKonay Posted November 4 Posted November 4 The other option is you buy from a UK site that will handle the Vat for you (like accurascale) and you pay irish VAT when you order and no other fees or an post charges. Quote
