CIE Parcels services

I’d be interested to find out when CIE stopped providing a parcels service. 
 

On rail, I think the Fastrack service lasted into the early 2000s?

CIE buses also carried parcels but I have no idea how long that service lasted into the Bus Eireann era. 
 

I’d also be interested to know when similar services ceased in Northern Ireland. 
 

Can anyone help?

I haven't got exact dates, but parcels activities were still carrying newspapers at the very least into the 1990s, as I saw these in a Mk 2 (or 3) guard's compartment on the Waterford line during the RPSI's May Tour one time about 1994/5, I think. As for NIR, I think the early 1980s.

Recently found fastrack plastic parcels (the sort of things you would get clothes deleivered in) which look like they date from the 2010s but are probably from something like the 1990s

Back in the day (late 60s) Dublin City Services used to deliver the evening papers to some newsagents using its fleet of RA open platform buses. One day going home from school on a No50, I decided to continue to the next stop at 'the top of the road" rather than get off at my usual stop in Crumlin Village. The conductor gave me the job of delivering the papers to Reynolds newsagents shop in return for refunding my fare and free sweets from the shop, my first paid employment almost 60 years ago  my how time flies.

Many thanks for the info and stories! Interesting to hear that smallish consignments of newspapers went as parcels too. 

In about 2001 I was travelling from Limerick to Cork and accidentally left one of my bags on the shuttle train at the junction. I realised as soon as I was on the Cork train, and spoke to the guard who contacted Limerick. 

When the shuttle got back there, they found the bag, and sent it by Fastrack to Cork, for me to collect a few hours later. All at no cost to me - excellent service!

For some reason I kept the Fastrack label and I found it a couple of days ago amongst some other things. That prompted the question.

speaking of cork in 2001…..

also considering where I found my fastrack bags. IDs say they had loads spare come the end and they were used for odd jobs
