Jamie Davis Posted April 7 Posted April 7 Well lads, Here’s a progress update on my 009 scale model of the Larne aluminium works Peckett locomotives. Tyrone, AKA Larne No.1 is preserved at the Giants causeway and Bushmills railway (preserved, although not very well kept) as one of its two resident steam locos. I have been working on an 009 scale model of this loco, having scratchbuilt and 3D printed parts as I progressed. My most recent, and highest quality iteration was originally created as a digital model which was intended as a modified add-on for a railway based computer game by the name of rolling line. Having previously used CAD softwares to create the first STL models, I favoured the video game model of the loco as it was far better proportioned and looked far more visually appealing. I rather tediously rescaled the model to fit ontop of my Bachmann N scale “Percy” chassis, and 3D printed the bodyshell. Now, due to the fact that the 3D model was designed and stylised to the video game I made it for, some parts of the model such as the dome were rather low- poly and sharp edged, which is something I’ll have to improve on. Paint was fairly straightforward, amber boiler, tanks and cab, ect. For the black border around the tanks and cabs, I just attempted to paint them freehandedly, which was partially successful. I have yellow line transfers on the way in the post, so the full lining will be complete soon. Thanks for reading, opinions on the model are welcome. I have yet to fully perfect the print, so expect another update or two. Cheers 8 4
Galteemore Posted April 7 Posted April 7 (edited) That’s terrific work - well done. For longevity I think wire would work well for those corner pillars. Edited April 7 by Galteemore 1 2

I did try to just leave holes in the print for that purpose, but unfortunately my FDM printer isn’t quite accurate enough to make holes of that size. I found these work best until I can find myself the funds to buy a resin printer to achieve fine details. 1 1
