Best DCC setup for micro layout

Thinking of giving dcc a go, what would be the best set up for a small/micro layout? Only have 5 locos

I use the new gaugemaster infinity DCC controller for Ballisodare mill….easy to use and set up.

If you are buying a system I would just go for a Z21 White. 

This system is pretty easy to use. controlled by Hand held unit or you can go using phone/tablet and has up to 30 functions to select. With locos now pushing over the 22+ now you might find some of the lessor systems wont cover all the functions. Ala the New Hunslet is at 22 functions.

I have tried Hornby Select, Bachman Dynamis, NCE powercab and finally the Z21 and well happy with the 21. 

Noels gaugemaster infinity DCC controller has 68 functions!

I have used a Gaugemaster Prodigy 2 for about 15 years and I'm very happy with it. 

But Gaugemaster are based in the UK and Brexit makes that difficult right now, especially if you have yo return the system for warranty work. If I was starting now I'd go to  https://www.modellbahnshop-lippe.com/ and order either a Lenz or Roco system. 

You could even pick up a starter set which includes a perfectly good controller for €250 AND you get a loco and coaches you could use for another project or sell of.

If the locos are not sound fitted then go for 2nd hand Roco multimaus (I think it is not available new anymore). It is compatible with the later Roco and Lenz kit and very easy to use and quick to change loco being used, with only 5 locos, 2 figure loco numbers should suffice. If it is a micro layout then no need for wireless or long leads to reach parts of the layout. 

  I stayed with an old school friend last week, and he is using Bachmann EZCommand, the starter set one, with O scale sound fitted locos, no problem at all and the functions were easy to select. Even I only took a couple of minutes to understand how to use it. He was even running 2 sound fitted locos at once, that red stop button came in very handy.

Locos will be sound fitted, its the reason im trailing dcc cause its a micro layout which doesnt have much thats visually appealing, i thought sound would enhance the atmosphere.
