Galteemore Posted October 17 Posted October 17 Dromore ? Possibly Hillsborough. Very nice either way!
Moogie-69 Posted October 18 Author Posted October 18 An old photo of Dromore station i found on a post card. The image was very small so its a bit blurry. 2

leslie10646 Posted October 19 Posted October 19 At least the vaiduct is sitting there still to be photographed! 2
jhb171achill Posted October 19 Posted October 19 Ooooh boy. Looking forward top seeing this progress! A less well known place, deep in GNR-land! 1
Moogie-69 Posted October 22 Author Posted October 22 Many hours later, the goods shed is almost complete. 4
Moogie-69 Posted October 22 Author Posted October 22 A few recent photos of Dromore station. Ticket hatch still in use, about the only surviving part inside the building. not much left of the platform, really just the front edge. Front door step is well worn after 160+ years of use. Metal bracket for outside light ? A bit of sofit detail. A view along the top of the viaduct. Not a very good photo, but if you look closely the window sill it has scallops cut in to the edge. This is where the porter sharpened his knife. If anyone wants i can get a bitter photo. 7
jhb171achill Posted October 22 Posted October 22 Senior was the very last person to cross that viaduct by rail. He deliberately stood at the very back of the last wagon on the lifting train in 1958! He was the engineer in charge that day. Due to a set of circumstances too random to bore people with, he ended his almost century of life in a nursing home in that town 11 years ago... 2 1
Moogie-69 Posted October 22 Author Posted October 22 (edited) My brother-in-laws great grandfather, Bob Elliott was a signal man at Dromore and now my sister owns the children's nursery in the station. My other connection to the railways is my great grandfather was a fireman on the BCDR and then a driver on the Canadian National Railway. Edited October 23 by Moogie-69 2 1

Moogie-69 Posted Saturday at 21:20 Author Posted Saturday at 21:20 (edited) A big thank you to Patrick for supplying me with a set of Engineers drawings for the GNRi signal cabins. After a few hours work the main walls are done. Still lots of details to go. Edited Saturday at 22:00 by Moogie-69 8
Patrick Davey Posted Saturday at 22:26 Posted Saturday at 22:26 Great work! I think the cabin at DM was mounted on the platform though so the base will probably need reduced in size.
Moogie-69 Posted Sunday at 01:02 Author Posted Sunday at 01:02 (edited) Don't think too much needs to be removed according to these photos of Dromore but they aren't the best quality, it's hard finding any decent photos of the station. There seems to be like a low wall or something at the base of the steps to the cabin, can't quite make out what it is. Edited Sunday at 01:32 by Moogie-69 2
Moogie-69 Posted Sunday at 01:10 Author Posted Sunday at 01:10 Anyone have any ideas what this hut/shed/storage bunker might be? 1
Patrick Davey Posted Sunday at 08:27 Posted Sunday at 08:27 (edited) Excellent - I forgot about Britain from Above, it's a gold mine!!! The location of the cabin reminds me of that at Killylea in Co. Armagh, in that it appears to be platform-mounted but is actually full height behind, maybe even a bit taller than the normal standalone cabin. Here are some photos of the cabin at Killylea which I took back in 2013, the setup looks similar to Dromore. Edited Sunday at 08:28 by Patrick Davey 3 1
Moogie-69 Posted Monday at 22:49 Author Posted Monday at 22:49 Latest bits. From what i can see in photos there seems to have been a low wall at the bottom of the steps, so this is what i have come up with. 4 4
