Station Announcements

Anyone got or know where I could get recordings of station announcements? I know theres a few on YouTube but would love a continuous playlist that can be paused, of maybe 10+ or more different announcements. Destinations or times not important.

Plan is to pop a small speaker under my station and have announcements playing.

Anyone done anything similar?

Surprised no manufacturer has done anything like this in the past, given how much time they spend recording DCC sound files. The only thing I can suggest is using sound recorder on your phone and recording them yourself? That is a lot of work though in fairness.

Yeah ive tried a couple of times but background noise is always noticeable, which if it was train related would be authentic but a couple of times it was the likes of "ah heeerre where's me bleedin card " which although also authentic sounds from a station its not exactly what im looking for 😂

I could have swore someone had a set of sound files done a few years ago but for the life of me I cant remember who it was.

Theres a way to make custom UK announcements, or at least the was, online using available recordings but the Irish announcements were encrypted.

It just something I've always wanted to do.

I had the youtube ones playing before but was awkward.

Depend what era.

Prior to maybe 1990s THEY DIDNT EXIST!

Belfast Uncentral, maybe 1990s. Caark, boy; similar. Amiens St & Kingsbridge - never. Connolly & Heuston only  modern times.

There remains no such thing as announcements in 95% of Irish stations. Within such places as do exist, it is largely late NIR, very late CIE, and IE times…..

Belfast Central had station announcements since it opened in April 1976.  Joyce Bacon was the announcer for years. The long line public address system was introduced 1989 or 1990 and these announcements were live from the control office.

Ballybrophy has had speakers for a few years now, but I've never heard a peep out of them.

I do remember hearing a marvellous announcement in Port Laoise a good few years back - "That's the Cork train coming in now".

Nobody will ever beat Stafford's famous "The train now standing at Platform Four is the mystery excursion to Barry Island"...

Or one I heard myself, about ten years ago - "The train arriving at Platform One is the delayed 16:25 to London Euston. This train may go no further than Watford Junction" - I was the only person who found it amusing.
