mk 3 coaches repaints

hi there everyone .can anybody tell me what they use for the white stripe on the mk3 coaches and where to get it. thought i get started on my rake of br stock. i have the paint colour code ral2011 which is a great match .thanks

A know a lot of the guys here have used purpose made decals. I just masked of the sides of the coach leaving a thin strip and airbrushed matt white in VERY thin coats until it built up a solid colour.

I mask it as well. SSM do the correct Decals, Railtec stuff is too narrow in Width. Silver Fox do a white line transfer as well.

I use Ssm lining and I find it great to use and get good results every time.

here's the method I used on my own rake of Mk3's.... uses heaps of tamiya masking tape! But turned out alright I reckon,

Great job Tom, they look exquisite. Very neat and tidy, the white stripes look great. Did you try the reverse masking method for the white lines.

That's it in a nutshell. Started with the lightest colour (white primer), finished with the darkest (satin black). Shifting the layers of masking tape as required. All done with standard acrylic aerosol bought from the motor factors. I do reckon that a roll of 1mm masking tape would have sped up the lining process a lot. Not sure where it can be got but It definitley exists.

I still have a role of 1mm tape from Railmatch Tom. It gets used very sparingly.
