Hi Guys, any of you interested in steam locomotives will appreciate this old film of NBL Glasgow back in the day. Shows all the skills and trades involved in building steam locomotives from the ground up.Fascinating film. And old smoky Glasgow as I can just remember it when I was a kid. And to think all those machines were built without the aid of computers eh ? Enjoy..... http://ssa.nls.uk/film/1276

Great video. NBLs diesel output interests me more than the steam angle but it's great to see such a large operation in action! A similar one of Inchicore in its prime would be fantastic. Thanks for sharing!

Now that I think of it, got a present of a book written by a past staff member of NBL who recalled putting a lot of work into a tender for diesels for CIE.

Think it had a pic and all of the Irish 'might have been.'

This is it...http://thumbs4.ebaystatic.com/d/l225/m/m2KLvSusfSH6j3pyl7Yd1uw.jpg

Thanks for posting Andy. What's striking is that the structural design of the main building is almost identical to that of Inchicore's Diesel Shops, even down to the double gantry design. Must be some connection between the two places?
