CIE Woolwich & NCC Jinties with DCC?

Rate this question

Hi,

Has anyone ever run these locos on DCC?

I have a Woolwich and thinking about some more plus some NCC Jinties. It appears that they have "No DCC Provision" per the IRM catalogue.I have no idea if they have an isolated chassis, I presume they have no DCC socket but it might be possible to solder a chip if chassis was actually isolated? I have NO experience with this.

If anyone has done it with a mini Lenz chip or something can you advise how difficult it is to do and whether the outcome is reliable?

This is my first ever post so if it's in the wrong forum please let me know.

Thanks,

Kevin

Hi Kevin! You're very welcome!

Installing a chip in the woolwich is certainly doable. As you guessed space is very tight but there is no electrical issue.

hello kevin, as the Bos says -it is doable. i have several willies chipped and 3 sound fitted and they all run well, dont fit hornby chips as i found they make the loco shudder at slow speeds.
