After a few days back in work, I was off again for a quick weekend in the UK, primarily for family matters but a bit of travel was undertaken too! Click on the photo below to view them all

Afternoon folks,

Two updates to the website today with images of the RPSI Croagh Patrick Railtour on Saturday 12th October. The tour travelled from Dublin Heuston to Westport and Ballina. Loco 079 worked the first leg of the tour from Heuston to Westport and Claremorris where 084 took over for part 2 of the day into Ballina and back to Dublin Heuston.

The 2nd update is to the October gallery and mainly features other images from yesterday of travelling from Mallow to Portarlington to meet the tour and then he journey back to Mallow late on Saturday night onboard a Rugby Spl.

Rail services commenced at the new Belfast Grand Central Station on Sunday 13th October. Unfortunately I haven't had an opportunity to get up to Belfast yet due to a large number of personal and professional commitments lately. So with thanks to Belfast based enthusiast, Matthew Wilson, he has kindly allowed use of a selection of his photos to record this historic event. Belfast Grand Central replaced the adjacent Great Victoria Street Station which closed last May.

May 2024 saw the Northern Lights (along with an attempt to get a train in photo!), the Irish Railway Record Society "Time's Arrow" railtour with retro painted 2601+2602, the movement of 2751 from Cork to Limerick, along with another UK trip primarily to see Bruce Dickinson at home in Nottingham. June 2024 was a quiet enough, catching up from various trips away and being busy in work. The main event of the month was the RPSI trip to Rosslare with a 201, and due to other commitments was unable to travel fully on that. Click on the photo below to view them all

A very enjoyable Irish railtour today and the first passenger run of a MK4 set to Limerick City. 

No fuss (having managed railtours before it can be a chore dealing with last minute issues), a relaxing day out and good company.

August was another quiet month, which saw the launch of the latest (then) preserved Wagonmaster in Stradbally, and the opening of the latest Iarnród Éireann station in Kishoge. Click on the photo below to view them all

Friday 13th Decemeber:
A short hop from Thurles to Limerick Jct. to meet family travelling up on the 1425 Cork - Heuston service and later in the evening a visit to Clonmel to view the 1625 Waterford - Limerick Jct.

Four days in London where I managed to cram a lot in. Highlights being a visit to Strawberry Hill to visit the good folks in SETG looking after the 4VEP 3417 and travelling around on Class 455's as they enter their final months of service.

September 2024 saw the first of three trips in short succession to the Netherlands for two concerts and a work conference.

The first day was a simple enough trip from Amsterdam to Apeldoorn via Amersfoort.

The following day was a more involved day, with a good amount spent on the VSM railway in Apeldoorn, before a circuitous route from Apeldoorn to Amsterdam and return to catch the Berlin train on divert via Lelystad

 

The third day was a trip to Paschendale, where I had ancestors fighting in the First World War. Having started at Apeldoorn, I finished in Utrecht

 

Day 4 of this particular trip was a day trip to the railway museum in Utrecht, along with a quick spin to Amersfoort before the Marko Hietala concert

The final day was just killing time before the flight back to Dublin, with a trip back from Utrecht to Amsterdam via Ede-Wageningen, Amersfoort, Amsterdam Science Park and Hilversum
