burnthebox Posted August 12, 2015 Posted August 12, 2015 Thanks Sulzer201 for posting that, now anyone got any explanation as to why the report took so long,
DiveController Posted August 13, 2015 Posted August 13, 2015 Thanks for posting that. Very interesting! Glad no one was badly hurt and no children run over on the other line. Nice to see the older rollingstock. Super find:tumbsup: I didn't even know that RTE had old archives available now. Now to read that report ....
DiveController Posted August 13, 2015 Posted August 13, 2015 anyone got any explanation as to why the report took so long, As a rule of thumb, it takes approximately one year for every representative at a rail accident investigation unit inquiry .... (Page 18)
Mayner Posted August 13, 2015 Posted August 13, 2015 (edited) Thanks Sulzer201 for posting that, now anyone got any explanation as to why the report took so long, Most likely the lack of resources up to the setting up of the Railway Safety Commission and Accident Investigation Unit about 10 years ago the Department of Transport employed only one Railway Inspector with very limited powers of enforcement Completing the report into Dalkey would have been low priority compared to the reports and follow up action in connection with the Buttervant & Cherryville disasters, and possibly Keeping some oversight over the DART, MK3 and major main line re-signalling projects.
