Two lads carrying a rail wheel from a steam locos with an IR and NR logo on the bottom, anything to do with the enterprise of Dublin-Belfast route or commemorating something positive. Not sure what the guy stretched out laying across the wheel symbolises. Looks like some sort of plaque. 1 Quote
murphaph Posted March 22, 2021 Posted March 22, 2021 Any background to it at all Billycan? It doesn't look "official" to me. If it was I would expect both company names to appear in full, not just IE's. But I'm probably completely wrong and it's part of a pair of something. Quote
Billycan Posted March 22, 2021 Author Posted March 22, 2021 None at all. Was given a photo and asked, Would any of your friends know what that is? I was told it is very heavy and I got the impression from hand gestures that it's about 15" dia. 1 Quote
jhb171achill Posted March 22, 2021 Posted March 22, 2021 I'd say it's something that someone has just made up. Can't see it being some sort of "official" railway-made thing. Looks too crudely made anyway. Unless anyone knows a better story? What size is it? Quote
Billycan Posted March 22, 2021 Author Posted March 22, 2021 I get the impression it is about 15" dia. Noel, I had to have a second look to see the 'guy stretched out laying across the wheel'. I hadn't noticed that before and then wondered if the wheel was forming a halo. However, when you look again you see that the stretched guy is in fact the thigh of the person holding the wheel on the right. His knee is at the axle hole and if you follow on down through the calf you see he is wearing a boot. An optical illusion? A trial piece with two good logos? Quote
