  1. Excuse the ignorance lads, but what is the blanking plug for a loco? Got 230 for christmas from Hatton's and got a decoder with it, only got round to trying to get it running tonight and the instructions say to remove the blanking plug from the loco socket!
  2. Anyone know what the craic is with the 121s? Seems to have gone very quiet on this front!
  3. Devastated, the ma's half of my family's from Belmullet. 5 years in a row now they've gone out in the most heartbreaking circumstances!
  4. Sounds like a great layout idea! Plan looks very good too, good luck with it!
  5. Anyone know when it's heading to Belfast for trials, and whether it'll go north of Belfast this year? Haven't heard anything to say it won't be other than on here!
  6. I thought it would be running as far as Coleraine where the passengers would be transferred to a CAF set?
  7. Aye I'm thinking they look a wee bit plain too tbh! Wonder when they'll get their first test run?
  8. Not sure whether this has been posted here before, but just a found a nice wee collection of pictures of Irish railways in the mid 90s, including quite a few from the north. http://jandjcottrell.zenfolio.com/f382319124
  9. Oh no I knew you weren't! That's great news then
  10. Excellent! Something to look forward to What is the latest 201 livery? D'you mean the silver and green with the updated Iarnrod Eireann logo? Or the new Enterprise livery?
  11. Oh yeah Richie, packed to the rafters! Good old lower Ormeau, it's calmed down a bit now but you'd still wanna watch yourself around it. Rose and Crown also good craic
  12. Never seen so many smashed glasses last night than in the Hatfield when Walters scored the second, COYBIG!!!!
  13. Or the whole of lurgan at that!
  14. Oh no, buckfast is definitely the drink of lower falls
  15. Anyone at Christy Moore in Belfast last night? Class performance from him and all the accompanying musicians!
  16. Rake of mk2s looks really good in the curve of that platform! Can't wait to see Kingsbridge progress!
  17. I know! And to think that there's one daily liner each way from there, and that's a significant improvement from 3/4 years ago! And no freight at all up here in the North
  18. http://www.lococarriage.org.uk/ireland_1992.html Found a great wee piece here on Irish Railways 1992. Belfast in particular is covered quite a bit, which is quite rare around those times maybe given the situation. Some great pics from Adelaide freight yard, all of which is now gone! Anyone know what is hiding between the cement silo in the picture taken from the top of Adelaide crane? Is it a hunslet?
  19. Yes, makes sense, thanks Briothe!
  20. I won't I wonder why it is in general that so many railway stations seem to be in slightly seedy/dodgy areas..
  21. Where'd you hear that Warbonnet? Can we see the pic, even if it is photoshopped I wonder will they change locos in Dundalk/ Newry or wait til Belfast? I'm also wondering will the train stay in Belfast Central at night? Cause it's not in the greatest area, could be susceptible to stones being thrown at it over the fence...
  22. Hold on, that is a Murphy Models shell right?! In any case class paint job, will look very well inside on of your sheds
  23. Noel, where does the timber train stable and get loaded at Westport? I've never seen pics of a freight yard there or anything, just the station!
  24. Nah I dunno if that's entirely true. I think the murals are interesting when they display historic events or their communities' culture, and are often beautifully painted! The loyalists seem to be slower to get rid of their militant ones with masked men (this is probably the type you're referring to) and this needs to happen asap as they often seem to be around flashpoint areas and are intimidating to people across the divide (e.g. Newtonards Road-Short Strand). But I'd say I still would recommend someone who's never been to Belfast to do a tour of the murals in west Belfast!
