  1. Hi Noel, I purchased just one pack of these tail lamps recently with a view to establishing how they might be fitted to various pieces of rolling stock, so your success with them is interesting. In the absence of any information or suggestions on the IRM website (the support page, a note in the pack directs us to, does not exist), may I ask if you can be a bit more specific as to where you are locating the battery/control unit, I'm assuming that you are utilising the interiors of containers etc to the best extent possible? As regards the fertiliser wagons, while I have yet to attempt this, it seems to me they can be fitted with minimal surgery limited to removing a piece of the cross bracing inside one of the double stacked pallets, and simply pushing the battery/control unit inside and threading the wire and lamp through a small hole in the floor of the wagon beneath that pallet. The question Dave is asking about an unladen 42' bogie wagon was the first one that came to mind when I had these lamps in hand so I'd also be interested in your thoughts on that. thank you Tom
  2. A picture published Jun '71 IRRS JNL (no. 55) of a Charles Roberts ESSO tank wagon arriving at North Wall. This photo was originally posted on this site by josefstadt in the Irish Shell & BP thread Dec 17 2014.
  3. Sauna or Turkish bath more like. Well that's what we got every day in winter on the old AEC rail cars (pre DART). At least 90% of them leaked steam in enormous volumes. The experience of travelling into the city on a wet December or January morning when they were jam packed with passengers with already wet coats and dripping umbrellas, still doesn't bear thinking about.
  4. Not wishing to distract from the central topic here, but 035 is sporting quite a dent in this photo, what's the story, anyone?
  5. The numbers are, all 3rd 439 & 454, 1st/3rd 541, 3rd/Guard 98. (not easy to read and I'm nearsighted) As I recollect at the point of ordering I was satisfied that the running numbers of the four coach set did not duplicate the numbers of those sold singly.
  6. Hi, having read many of your postings, I'm glad to see this acknowledgement of knowing yourself. However while I think the fraternity on this forum in all probability generally possess a better sense of humour than those on RM, suggesting that so called "box openers" are not modellers may nonetheless be viewed even here as offensive. I think your skills and the things you do are quite fantastic, but this hobby is a very broad church and to each his own. Just because someone opens a box that contains a model that none of us could hope to emulate does not necessarily demean them as a modeller.
  7. It would be worth enquiring if the car park at Clontarf Rd. Dart Station will be open despite the fact there are no Dart services (over 100 parking spaces). Yes it is a little stretch of the legs up the Malahide Rd to Mt Temple but for anyone taking the Dart that would probably have been the best station to go to anyway. I don't advise attempting to park on adjacent roads , they are pretty congested already. As I recollect, there were about 60 or so parking spaces on the campus of Mt Temple, has this been curtailed due to the commencement of construction works which also seems to have contributed to closure of the Howth Road entrance?
  8. Since there is no apparent interest in these coaches I will withdraw them on Sunday Sept 29.

  16. 48 hours have passed, so now I'm getting worried. My order for Flats shows as paid and unfulfilled with an expected delivery time frame of quarter 3 2024. Yet the flats are showing as in stock and I've had no notification as regards shipping.
  17. She's doing her job "never admit there is a problem"
  18. They were arrested at the scene, what the DPP does is another matter.
  19. ????? The flats, not so in my case
  20. It looks like the Britbus business is being wound up, which is disappointing news and means these commissions will not be repeated. at least not from that source. The tooling for their range of models must have some value and hopefully someone will step in to acquire it.
  21. They seem to be separate incidents. A stolen waste disposal truck drove through the lowered level crossing gates in Sutton and that caused suspension of service between Howth Junction and Howth. The second incident which caused suspension of service on the main line occurred at Howth Junction and I would deduce this was much more serious and probably a fatality. Comment is usually quite reserved in such cases.
  22. The Scenecraft model is in stock here but seems pricey https://modeltune.co.uk/products/bachmann-scenecraft-limited-edition-irish-pub-44-124a?variant=31433047605290
